iam not worried i think TR degradation is very good. put them in soft and medium for final run . 1 stopper can do it. with TR having good top speed should be fine to hold a few behind. ultra soft only last for 7 laps. cant wait to aero upgrade for baku
That was expected. China is not a great track for the package they have now. Hopefully they make to the points tomorrow. Race pace looked good and they can start with new soft tires, so we will see.
I think that they ran with some strange settings: in the first two practices they were behind others in the first two sectors, and they gained in the third sector, today was just opposite. Probably they have tried higher downforce/drag settings, which seems strange to me.
I hoped for a better showing to be honest especially from Gasly since he seems better driver than Hartley. A good start is crucial if scoring points is a target. Exciting to see Honda vs McLaren on the straights. Seems performance from car and drivers sits on a swing right now.
Well I think Hartley will give the Mclarens a run for their money. Possibly getting overtaken later but Hartley should beat them off the line. Hoping its a points finish tomorrow for Hartley.
IMO Drivers are not computers. No matter what they say about learning a new track on playstation and simulators (as Gaasly said) ,that its not a big deal etc, knowing the track and not knowing the track can play its part.
Hartleys WEC experience on this track, probably did play a part, as he said it would be.
Now performance wise, if we take for granded that Honda is up there with Renault and performance is similar, then this track will show what is going on with the chassis side atm.
So on Renault and Honda engine cars, on chassis side, behind RB obviously it must be Renault ,then Mclaren and the TR.
Thats only my opinion and it has to do with the chassis they have ATM. New updates obviously can change that order very quickly.
The differences we see on each track has to do with what tracks require a more efficient chassis on medium to high speed corners ( front-limited tracks) and which tracks require heavy braking and very good traction out of slow corners. (rear limited tracks) .
Baku for example on paper it should be a much better show for TR than China.
I am not saying China it would be a disaster for TR, i am just saying its not gonna be as sweet as Bahrain was.
