Never say no to a 20 =P~ , but what if they are ahead?
Well I'm not paying more if they are that's for sure
But I'll stand by my offer mate
Are you game to send me $20 if they finish more than 50 points behind Red Bull ? ? ?

I think it's possible and I claim my $20.

I presume you're talking about the constructors....
Yeah mate for sure.
I honestly think it will be a miracle if McLaren can get within 50 points of Red Bull this season.
So I'll put $20 up if you will

Anyhow guys, I stick by my promise because I honestly can't picture McLaren being close, let alone on par or in front of Red Bull in 2018.

And I need something to keep my nerves on edge during the boring races.
There's nothing better for that than the thought of losing some hard earned
I wont take the hunt for a 20, the whole thing was meant as a joke :D , my believe is they will be somewhere 100 points behind.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Ferrari was around 150 points behind Merc and I concidered them close. If McLaren get that close, depending on how they could get that close, I might consider they have a better package.

The points mean less the closer you get to the front.

I think the drivers championship is a better judge of the car and it will be closer.

I don't think it is realistic to expect them to beat Red Bull outright. This is their First Season with Renault. Relationships have to be built, Integration has to be perfected. Red Bull has done that already. The MCL32 Chassis was pretty good as most People agree on, and seeing the Correlation was mostly Spot on, i expect the MCL33 Chassis to be in the Ballpark, but at least the first half of the Season could include some niggles to be sorted out. So i hope that later in the Season the Team will be really able to take the fight to the "Top" Teams.

All I want is for them to be close enough for Fred to drag that McLaren into real battles with the best teams.

I can imagine he will be really looking forward to being a real PITA if he has a car that isn't just figuratively eaten. If as you say he has a car that can take it to them all the better.

The thought of Alonso being added to the current mix of drivers at the sharp end brings a smile. Look at the little fight with Hamilton towards the end of last season, you know they both loved that.

Motorsport.com
Zak Brown says McLaren's look will undergo the "biggest change" of all the teams on the 2018 Formula 1 grid.
When asked if the papaya orange, synonymous with McLaren, will stay, Brown said: "There will be some nod to our history but we're not done with the livery yet because a lot of that is sponsor dependent."
"It still requires a principal partner, just not a 'title partner'. I know that's semantics there but it's really about protecting the McLaren name. That's all I'm trying to do is ringfence that and keep us as McLaren.
"We've signed three partners so far that we will start to announce and hopefully a few more," he said.
Some good news. Last I saw it was 2 new partners IIRC ??

Hope they bring reasonable amounts of money !! [-o< [-o<

If these Partners have Influenece on the Livery and also got McLaren to Veto the Sharkfin for Sponsor Visibility last Year i'm pretty sure there are more than a few Pennies worth of Money involved.

Edit:
From the Interview you posted:
"We do need a title-level partner, all I've done is dropping the vernacular of title into principal and have looked at all of our commercial assets, which is not just the race car it's our other forms of racing and things like our building and war rooms and things of that nature, and have looked at what's the best way to commercialise the world of McLaren," he said.

Also i like that:
As well as the change of car livery, Brown has hinted that McLaren will be doing something bold with its garage in 2018.

He added: "We are calling it a new era, we are back and we are going to have some great things like a new garage. One of the things that McLaren hasn't done in recent years is be a leader.

"With our garage and everything, we look like everyone else – so we need to step up and be the guys in Australia where everyone says, did you see what McLaren did?

"That is what McLaren always was. I think with our lack of competitiveness, we have kind of blended in. We need to get back to being a team that people are envious of. I feel we are on our way."

The guy is a good salesman, let's see if he can deliver. My guess is they'll revert back to the black car with a bit of orange and some sponsors. Mclaren need to improve their pit performance if they start battling it out with the top three. That can mean positions in a race.

I'm pretty sure they signed a big sponsor, Castrol removed from the list says it all really.

Fingers crossed that the MCL33 won't become a array of small and different coloured sponsor stickers...
