Problem is that the spec 2.0 unit was send to Sakura after the FP2 crash in Austria and nobody knows If it is back yet (still ok for use). If not Max was running his current race engine today.

The crashed spec 2 is good:

Q: Is the power unit (PU / engine) where Verstappen crashed in the free run of the previous race Austria GP is no longer usable?

Tanabe: No, it was fine.

Q: It can be used as a Friday engine.

Tanabe TD: Yes.

Then, it seems that the Spec 3 new mapping is doing a great work. They are there with Ferrari and Merc. Hopefully they can extract more power in Q mode. But even with that, Merc and Ferrari PU have a better Q mode, so I expect at maximum to split the Ferraris with a near perfect lap.

How close was that qualifying! Verstappen can win tomorrow if the tires come in to play.

Very encouraging indeed, less than 0.2 sec on this track is unimaginable before. And the track is cold! Gasly doing well also, congratulations to all

That would be impressive. If they win here or at least fight for win with the mercs is very good sign for rest of the season.

0.71s gap to pole in 2018 to 0.18s in 2019... They are definitely improving. Good signs regarding temperatures.

Just 0.183 to pole
Now we know the truth of Austerian GP performance
It seems that the updates on front wing in Austeria and the rear wing this GP worked well
Now we have to be patient and see the promised Engine updgrade which could help us to join the competition for pole.
Also great weekend for Gasly .. That's only what we want from the frenchman .. 0.8 to Renault is normal .. We just need him to secure the best result after top 5 depending on the circumstances of the race

Okey so now we're talking. Good job by the team, upgrades are working, drivers are performing, Honda going a bit more aggressive. Hopefully all goes to plan tomorrow in the race.

That was CLOSE! I wasn't expecting they will be that close with the Q modes in play! Definetely RBR and Honda have made a big step forward since Austria with the chasis upgrades and the mapping upgrades for the Spec 3. That's starting to be an exciting season if the top 3 teams are so close, and Honda have their "real" power upgrade still in the pipeline.

Tomorrow it's possible a win, but the race pace of the Mercs was superior, but now we can clear the Ferraris.

Even Gasly has done a good job, being ahead of one Ferrari, which is the job he needs to do. =D>

Max just said on Dutch TV that there were issues all day with a turbo lag. He says this cost him 1,5 to 2 tenths during qualifying!

Yeah, I heard that Max said that on radio during Q1. They can adjust mappings on the PU during parc ferme to solve the "issue"??

Gasly ought to stick to Maxs setup from now. Car is getting better and better. Hoping Hamilton runs into Bottas in lap 1 and take both of the Merc out. Double podium of the season.

Better to be on merit, overtaking Ferraris and Merc, like Austria. I want a fight with all of them to see where they are better than a DNF for Merc
