Cleaner engine sounds tend to signify more complete combustion, similar to how a car with worn spark plugs will sound different to a car with fresh plugs.

after analysing from Red Bull, they think it will be a fight between Ferrari v Red Bull and not Ferrari v Mercedes, "We see Mercedes behind us at the moment"..... the Aerodepartment has some things cooking and Honda has announced a next small step of the engine before Melbourne

I'll believe that when 2019 is over lol. I would love it to be a 3 way fight at the front but Merc has built up enough cred at this point that they could show up with a milk float and I'd still be hesitant to count them out.

Given how testing went last year for Mercedes vs this year, I expect them to be right at the top in the first race.

If it is a fight between Ferrari and RedBull, expect Hamilton to get his 6th title (or Leclerc to get his first!). Seb and Max will be taking each other out / fighting each other so hard they'll let it slip by just like in 2007 when Kimi won the title. Seb and Max are both "thou shall not pass" types who, whilst great to watch, have a habit of taking their eyes off the long game.

The Mercedes has arguably the smallest side pods. You have to look at all cooling openings. Red Bull has a lot of cooling pushed up above and behind the PU so they can have those flowing downward sides on their pods.

Amount of laps they are doing is not very convincing. Ferrari and Merc did half as many laps than RB did. Don't know what to make of it but it doesn't look reassuring.

They did some Aero adjusments that's why they didn't do much laps.
It would be more concerning when they have that lap count over a whole testing day

In this article Horner states that the back end of the car is far more stable with Honda compared to Renault. But from what I've seen so far in terms of official and track side videos, the back end of the RB15 is quite twitchy. Gasly could not keep control yesterday and today Verstappen is struggling to get it planted in the corners as well.

Chandock on sky f1 has a different opinion were are you watching this. Every driver has spun or taken a different route on track but everything about Rbr gets blown out of proportion is like people are desperate to see them fail Honda are not supposed to show how good the can be

Yes this is just my observation from f1 tv and I'm aware that they have installed a higher downforce RW today to compensate. This is just the first week of testing but the track performance kind of contradicted to what was stated by Horner. My guess is that he is talking about the simulator mileage and we will see this level of performance next week or in Melbourne. On high fuel long runs the car actually looks good just as Chandhok stated.

Anyone has any top speed data? Watched a video where Versteppen overtook Sainz on the straight today. Took a awful long time for Versteppen to pass despite Sainz not using DRS.

Also Horner mentioning that their will be another Update from Honda before Melbourne...will it be the engine that TR is using right now?

It is not "update", but specification they choose to go for the first cycle of the season.
Yesterday Tanabe was saying that it is impossible to emulate all these real world conditions like G and shock on bump etc on dyno, there are always areas that go slip through no matter how you substitute/replicate it on dyno, last year's trouble in Melbourne was totally unforeseen, so they cannot be confident at all on reliability, so regarding which way or how they will go, they will see and decide later
https://www.as-web.jp/f1/454161?all
So after the testings they can dissect and analyze specimen PUs and can know the extent of damage and wear in real environment and correlate with dyno/sim PUs, from which they decide which way to go, either more aggressive and risky side or more safe/conservative side. Testing is about validating those things so this is the Melbourne spec or spec 1 or whatever.
