I believe STR uses the back-end of last years RB.
i believe that is correct, but wasn't last year's back-end designed for a Renault engine? will that just fit that simple?
Was there not a 'reg' released a few years back standardizing engine mounts etc? I would not be surprised if this included gearbox mating (but I do not know)
I believe it was, but the mounting points and the shaft are just a few of the dimensions. The turbo placement, how far back the PU sits to the rear of the car, how the exhaust pipe ducts, weight balance, etc etc.

They truly exists. 😋 Named after the queen and his wife, Willem Alexander and Maxima :)

You most probably meant to say 'the king and his wife...'

Or more precisely: the queen Max(ima) and her husband Willem (Alex)ander...
With the advances in medical technology these days, you can never be sure, can you ;)

I post it here, because we were talking about that few days ago. Seems that Tsunoda will be RB and Honda driver for maybe a 2021 promotion?
Tsunoda set for Formula 2 promotion in 2020

Red Bull junior driver Yuki Tsunoda is set to be promoted to the FIA Formula 2 championship next season, according to the team's advisor Dr Helmut Marko.

Tsunoda, who is currently competing in Formula 3, took his first win of the season at the Italy Sprint Race, which also marked his third consecutive podium finish.

According to Speedweek, Marko claims that Tsunoda will be racing in the F2 series next season, following on from his 2019 campaign, where he is competing in the F3 championship and the Euroformula Open Championship

The future of fellow Red Bull junior Juri Vips, who currently third in the F3 championship, is not yet known. Finishing third in the F3 category this year would give Vips the super license that he needs to compete full-time in Formula 1.

However, Marko insists that the team will not evaluate who will drive for Red Bull and Toro Rosso next season until after the US Grand Prix, following the mid-season swap of Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon.

Patricio O'Ward's future within the Red Bull programme is also in doubt as "things have not worked out as we imagined", concedes Marko.

The Mexican racer competed at the Austrian F2 round earlier this year, and also holds a spot on the Super Formula grid after losing his drive due to budget reasons in the IndyCar Series.

Was this the real reason why ricciardo left RBR? Money?
This comes from the claim and defence from his ex-manager (court).

Reliable source? That's a lot of money.

In my opinion, that is common knowledge as being one of the major reasons. RBR would not pay him more than Max's 13.5 M. As you saw, he's making double that.

If Renault have so much money to throw out ( you know abiteboul was talking about forum debates so maybe he will read this :-) ) I also can have some. 500k even accepted.

Don't forget that RBR pays $50k per championship point, so the $13.5 M is really just a base salary.

That's what Red Bull is known for, right?
Low base salary, high bonuses for points, championships, fastest laps, etc.
You won't catch me driving a race car that I have built.

27.5m if true, is probably in Australian dollars. Equals 18.8m US dollars.

It's in GBP. Renault head office is in England, not Australia. The rest of the contract finances are all listed as GBP.

I saw 2 bonuses in US $ and medical expenses in £.

So .. 95pts more, and he's even with Ricc, albeit in a race winning car!
That's a proper quest for this year then

I heard somewhere a few years ago, back when Mark Webber was still with them that they paid a million bonus for a win .

I think that was disputed here on the forum, but can't remember now ?

Do we think all the noise about Tsunoda, especially the above, is an RBR enticement to keep Honda post 2020? Seems they are keen to throw Tsunoda into F2 earlier than Yuri Vips who has performed no worse, if not better than Tsunoda.

Favouring a Japanese driver to push through the ranks for an eventual Toro Rosso seat seems very "for Honda". And if that does happen, I can see it having a big influence on keeping Honda in F1.

If it's one of the reasons of bringing Tsunoda to F2, bring it on. I want Honda to stay, and a Japanese driver with them
