Off topic...what an utter disgrace has Autosport become! Pay to read an article you can read everywhere...can't understand their logic...! What's more annoying is that it is owned by Motorsport and they have the exact same content...what a silly strategy! =D>

"Without a doubt, the Red Bull have a much better power unit this year," Hamilton said Thursday in Bahrain. "I think the performance of your engine is very, very close."
"I think it's within 10bhp or some of the best cars."
"If you look at the GPS on the speed lines, they are almost as fast as we are."
"That's a great start for them, and I really hope the reliability is strong so they can be in the fight."

Marko also talked to Amus:
https://www.motorsport-total.com/formel ... n-19032712

- RB15 was like a rally car in Australia, weren’t able to find the right set-up
- lot of hidden potential in the chassis and can be fixed on short term
- no cooling problems at all, package seems good in that aspect

Telemetry comparison between top qualifiers in Australia.
... Relative to Mercedes the Red Bull remains close in slow corners and perhaps gets closer even near the end of the lap, possibly a sign that it keeps its tyres in good condition throughout the lap.
Nice piece Hino !
Totally agree with the statement they had (too) little DF available in Aus. As this obviously benefits top speed, it really hurt Ves in 11/12 and 14 compared to Ham.
They do have to find that sweet spot again, and hope for a little more juice (or rpm) from Honda on the PU-side without ofcourse killing it.

Let’s hope Ferrari gets things back together, so truly 4/5/6 drivers can battle for the podium spots; better spreading of the points makes for smaller differences in total, and so wdc and wcc will depend a lot more on driver skills/mentality etc.

Read somewhere about possible rain in bah-rain? Last year almost in Abu Dhabi as well, weird stuff.

Max Verstappen's third place in Australia marked the first podium finish for Honda since 2008. Are you still in the clouds?

"We were overjoyed. Tears were flowing. After all those years, that was also a bit, but now that phase is over. Melbourne was a good start, but the season consists of 21 races and it now revolves around the remaining twenty. to become third. We want to win. That is our mission. "

Do you dare to dream of the first victory?

"No, that is not yet realistic. I do not want to draw conclusions too quickly. Melbourne is different from all other courses. Bahrain is a more normal circuit. Moreover, you have a long straight here. We know better where we stand after this weekend compared to Ferrari and Mercedes. Of course it would be nice to take a stage again, but it is especially important that we learn a lot here, as we will benefit from that for the rest of the season. "

The euphoria about Max's podium was great, but so was the gap to winner Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). Have you already analyzed at the headquarters in England and Japan where Red Bull-Honda is losing ground?

"No, it is not that simple. We need more time for that. We have to get to work. There is clearly still a gap to be closed to Mercedes. It will take a while before we are just as fast, let alone faster. Forget not that Ferrari was also very strong in the winter tests in Barcelona, perhaps they are suddenly dominant here again. We do not know exactly where we are, but we do know that we are not there yet, especially top speed and power are not good enough. "

Red Bull Racing had a difficult relationship with engine supplier Renault, which escalated in recent years. It became a real fight parting. Aren't you afraid of mud fights if things go wrong?

"No. We are all about openness, honesty and mutual trust. That is the cork that drives everything. Of course we will occasionally have to report that our engine is not strong or reliable enough. That can be frustrating, but as long as we good discussion with each other I see no problem. Open communication is the key. "

"At Renault, the situation was more difficult. They not only supplied engines to Red Bull, but also ran their own factory team. That is a conflicting interest situation. Then being honest and maintaining a relationship of trust is a lot more complicated. We are already stopping our energy in the Red Bull teams. The cooperation is therefore very close. Renault could not do that.

In 2000 Jos Verstappen would start an F1 season with a Honda factory team. The project never got off the ground because designer Harvey Postlethwaite died. What does it feel like to have a Verstappen on board now?

"I know, but I was not involved in that project. I have only just met Jos. There are still a few people working at the plant who have worked with him and they told me to get to know him. I did that It is great that Max is driving for us now. Due to circumstances, his father could not race our car and his son is now in a car driven by us. That is a good story. "

Red Bull Racing has been closing the gap to the two top teams for years. Is that going to work this year or do we have to be patient for another season?

"That is not impossible this year, but it is a huge job. The basis is good. We saw the potential in the Barcelona tests, but we also saw a gap to Ferrari and Mercedes. That gap is still there We try to close it, but it is more realistic to say that we want to keep the difference as minimal as possible. Formula 1 is a nine-month rat race. We should not actually rest or sleep because no one is standing still in this world. "

And the key question: can Max Verstappen take the title this year?

"I don't dare burn my fingers on that. Max is an extremely good driver. I am convinced that he will be world champion, but I do not know in which year. I do not even know if he will succeed with Honda. Of course we aim there We do, but people underestimate how difficult that is. "

RBR and Merc not going full potential?? With Renault equal to RB and only 0.2 off Merc... They had any issue, traffic or yellow flags on their laps? #-o

And most impressing if you take a look to the long runs, where RB was same level as the other top teams...
