Thanks guys, both replies are very insightful.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I wouldn't really jump to conclusions. Track is gripping in, Sainz was quite fast when he did his run (I believe he was just behind the top 3 teams), but late "comers" jumped over him.

Also, if you check sector times, Sainz's S3 is 2 tenths slower than Norris did on his lap that was 6-7 tenths slower. This surely means that they haven't really been pushing the car or going for maximum speed. If one was to use logic, they probably do some correlation work and test whether the new bits they brought give intended results, all of which is unsuited for 1 lap comparisons.

Soymotor reports Sainz had a small issue with power steering but that mechanics sorted it out. Probably cost him some track time (he was in the pits for a while when Norris started doing a longer run). All in all, decent session.

He complained on the radio that he couldn’t steer properly and that he thought the power steering was gone... A quick check in the pits and he was out again.

Out of or out in? I’m not hopeful at the moment. Nothing I’m seeing is screaming loads of performance left in tank

FFS guys. They are running on medium tires, doing a longer run. Probably a race sim.

I'm expecting they do a "qualy" sim now.

Exactly. I’m looking at the data and that’s my observation. No need to use FFS.
Reality is we are at the back of the mid field on evidence

Is there a stint data?

What should tell you to not jump with conclusions is the fact that Ferrari on soft tires is P5 and P9. Does it mean Ferrari is 4-5th team on the grid? No. Team will probably know today how they stand (through analysis), but we will not know it until qualifying and race.
