Well... It isn’t surprising... Zak is American... Have you look at the NASCAR cars?

Starting on softs gives them a huge disadvantage.
Is there any evidence for that?
They only last 6-8 laps. McLaren are forced to stop twice. While starting on Mediums you could do a 1-stop for Hards. Being locked in on a 2-stop strategy is a disadvantage by itself. If you think otherwise, please elaborate.
I believe they will manage the tires and they will probably extend the softs until lap 16-18... The temperatures are lower than on practice.

Nico Hulkenberg is out of the race. The car won't start so Racing Point might start with one less car.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think Mclaren will struggle much integrating the Mercedes PU, unless the car concept is seriously compromised by the different layout... At least from a mechanical perspective, the team is already working on the integration plan and wouldn’t expect too many surprises in that regard.

The Mercedes step will be carry over to next year with potential additional performance if they upgrade it between seasons (which is to be expected)... It will be interesting to watch what Mclaren can accomplish with the best PU on the grid... If they can maintain or shorten the gaps to RBR, Ferrari and RP this season, the could finally be in a position to fight for podiums in 2021... Fighting Mercedes is impossible though.
I agree, don't think it will cause any issues either. It's all pure speculation, but a 4 or 5 tenths gain isn't outside the realm of possibility. Would definitely put them into the podium mix. First things first, the car needs to continue on it's strong development path. Expecting Ferrari and Red Bull to make massive progress over the course of this season, McLaren need to match that.
4-5 10th fom the PU switch?

Your mad. Even if the Merc PU has as huge an advantage as some people say...On average across all tracks one to two 10th. Especially in race mode.
And that is on this year's Renault. Renault are on a 2 year program. They'd normally release a new PU next year but they can't do it cause of regulations, will release in 2022.

Nico Hulkenberg won't start officially. The car won't be ready. So one less Racing Point to be bothered. On another note cross your fingers for a clean start since we are starting from the clean side of the grid. A good chance to gain some positions. Fingers crossed then and for the strategy and pit stops to work and be clean.

5 tenths pure pace from the Merc engine? No.
Who on earth is spreading that? It's like a tenth in outright pace per lap, and maybe the same again from the car rather than engine performance because it runs hotter than the Renault so some parts can be packaged a little tighter.

Clean start first and foremost. And keep everything crossed that those softs hold up for a bit.

Let’s get those pit stops clean because without that, it doesn’t matter if you lap 0.2s a lap quicker if you throw 15 laps away by a 3s longer stop

Watch out for Gasly. He’s in a great position on mediums and race pace looked fine.

So fingers crossed. Clean start, clean pitstops and clean strategy. The one who is best in general wins in the end and not the fastest.

Good for Sainz but Norris must have made a mistake in that scuffle with Leclerc. We seem to be faster than the Ferrari at the moment due to the faster tyre so Sainz should push and pass Leclerc quickly to build distance after the safety car.

Not the start we wanted, but the Safety Car plays in our hands... It extends the life of the soft tires and we should be able to switch them quicker after the restart

Norris must have miscalculated somewhere to have lost a place but still Sainz got in his place so we are the same for now however we got to pass Leclerc cause he has the Medium tyre and he might have an advantage later.

Cant seem to be able to catch Leclerc with the faster tyre. Are we perhaps on tyre preservation or is it Leclerc giving it his all taking 120% of the car or is it both?

Target Plan A. We are going for one pit stop so they are preserving tyres to defend probably.

Norris was in but must have lost some places in the pit stop. Sainz hasn't done a pit stop.
