Are Carlos's cooling issues solved? Sky Sports said he got a new MGU-K. Looking at the positives, we're fighting with the Racing Points.

Was onboard with one of the cars was 0.067 behind the merc after sector 2 then lost a huge chunk in s3 lost some 6-7 tenths just in that sector

The Mercs had poor s3 times here because of mistakes. Wouldn't be surprised to see 7-8 tenths gap. They're in a different league.
But not unbeatable last weekend proved that

Very good point, I forgot about the Renault sour grapes. So yea we are basically screwed this season.

I see the life as a Mclaren fan bites again, we are getting hold of the best PU for next season but the quali modes are banned! Also the FIA are continuing to baffle me and are going to allow Alpha and RP to have upgrades token free next season! It’s madness!! #-o

Sorry my glass is half full today
I hadn't heard about Alpha and RP being allowed changes token free....

I genuinely expect McLaren to sacrifice performance in the last race or two to bridge the gap to the Merc PU without suffering unduly due to the token system.
This is one of two articles I’ve seen who are reporting it

Just a fan's point of view

He's running the tighter engine cover now so I'd say yes.

Both drivers into q3, good result! Could have easily been a double elimination it's that close. Carlos looks really hooked up, issues clearly solved.

Lando getting into Q3 makes him one of only 4 drivers to have reached Q3 in every race so far (HAM, BOT, VER the other 3)

Important to have outqualified the Renaults in what seemed to be a challenging weekend so far... Gasly is the biggest surprise for me, great performance from him.

We need to put at least one car in front of Leclerc in Q3... Vamos!!!

4th row lockout, I'm happy with that! That's about the maximum given the cars performance. Going to be a tough race, Ferrari and Renault will be strong. Tyre management remains a worry.

Seems that we are ahead of both Ferrari and Renault.
And Lando beat Vettel for +0.002 in Q2 and Leclerc for +0.003 in Q3.😄😄
Overall a good performance from McLaren today. 4th fastest team after Mercedes, RedBull and PinkMercedes.

Pre-season, who would have believed we'd be out qualifying Ferrari on merit!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sainz with a 16.8 in Q2 would've been P6

Yep and they really improved sector 3 from Winter testing.

It will all be in the first lap it seems... Barcelona is not an easy track to make an overtake and with the performance so close between the teams it probably makes it even harder.

A good getaway will be key... I do believe that if we manage to keep ahead of both Leclerc after the first lap, we have very good chance of strong scoring positions for the race.

The Renaults starting from P13 and P14 could be a little too far away to be a challenge in the race (they have both Alfa Tauri’s to get through and that won’t be too easy) and Vettel is also in between.

Lando is a great qualifier, but he still struggles on the first lap... Hopefully he manages to keep P8... With the pace of the Mercedes, VER and RP’s, the leading Mclaren after the first few laps could be in “free air” for the rest of the first stint.

It seems that the fastest strategy is a one stopper soft to medium, so this time those starting on Mediums from P11 back may not have that big of an advantage come race day... as a matter of fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the cars in between P11-P15 also start on Softs.
