Yesss. Looks like there is massive improvement in performance since AnniversaryGP with new updates.
Renault are more competitive at point & squirt tracks, which thankfully of which there are many coming up on the calendar. =D>

I doubt the Renault is suddenly the king of long corners that go on and on (Barcelona and similar tracks), aero instability is probably still there...

starting on softs, and with an advantage on the straights... any chance for Ricciardo to lead the race after lap 1 tomorrow?!

Epic qualifying effort by Daniel Ricciardo, really showing his class.

Decent job by Ocon too, really can’t complain about how well he’s going this year, Daniel is just in a different league though. Qualifying on the second row of the grid despite having break by wire issues, that is seriously impressive.

There is a chance but is likely in the 1-2% range. Making up 5 spots is a big ask.

Productive weekend for Renault.
Their engine seems very capable yet no one wants it.

yes and party mode regulation should make it a little bit better, as they will level from the race setup, which is qute good

More a function of existing politics and pricing than anything else really. Haas and Alfa are too tied to Ferrari. Alpha Tauri and Red Bull get free engines from Honda. Williams and Racing Point have long existing ties in the hybrid era to Merc and McLaren have long history with them. Also the question of cost crops up. If McLaren are offered a lower price and clearly superior packaging then they are going to take it. Also keep in mind the decision was taken in 2019 when the disastrous reliability of 2018 Renault engines was fresh(particularly for Ricciardo), though in hindsight some of that can be ascribed to Red Bull being too aggressive with packaging.

was is the contratual situation for engine deal with Haas and williams ? I am pretty sure renault would be happy to settup a technical deal with another team, to maximise caped budget rules. Perhaps with williams ?

Don't think it makes sense for Williams. They already get a discount for Russel in the team till next year atleast, and well overall Merc is still better overall in power, efficiency and packaging. What incentive would be there for Williams to pay more and switch from the best engine? Also don't see Honda dropping out with Tsunoda odds on for the AT seat next year and Max with an unlikely but not improbable title tilt next year.

Renault would probably paid for a pilot seat (as theiy need something to develop their junior path). Second, renault tried to set up a deal (exchange of non listed parts) with mclaren, don't know exactly what is the status for 2021 in term of std aprts and listes parts, but imagine renault focus on PU and break system and mcl gearbox and suspension, both team exchanging their dvpt to the other team. Coud save I don't know, 30M€ each. Win / win deal.

Obviously Renault would need to charge less. Williams could be supplied with discounted engines in exchange for extensive Renault signage as per their previous deal. There could be the chance for Williams to take Renault gearbox, suspension and uprights for cost cutting while using the same wind tunnel. A Williams-Renault win is a Renault win. =D>

It doesn't make too much sense post 2022 anymore, because of standardization and budget cap, additionally certain parts will be open sourced so I guess incentives for joint development disappear that way, but if Renault continue progress then perhaps one of the smaller teams will bet on them post 2022, especially if they crack a top 3.

Good Race for Renault. Hope they can do even better in Monza.

I think this is the first time Alonso(in his life) chosen good decision to join Renault.

Ferrari - not up to the mark
Mclaren - We never know how they will do with Mercedes engine. Changing engine is a big task

No party mode and F1 going to remove 10% of down force from the car

Hence Renault will have good chance being in frequent podium next year and if all good then they can challenge WCC and WDC in 2022
