I would say bring Russel in place of Ocon. It is a good choice for them in long run.
Russel is Merc property and is going to Merc at some point.
Ocon too https://www.planetf1.com/news/mercedes- ... candidate/

That dosn't say much, not all the cars had DRS oportunities during the race. No all the cars are deploying the same amount because of whatever startegie they're running. The DRS opportunity don't all occur on the same lap so the Fuel elvel will not be the same, Best for Max Speeds is Quali.

I feel bad for Alonso. I think he just gave up, he felt there's nothing to race for, call it a day.
Agree, he gave up when the team asked him to retire the car for a safety issue with the brakes... coward! :P
You act like he didn't have such issues in his last year at McLaren when he was fighting for p12.
What is the relevance of that for this issue? Are you suggesting the brake failure reported by the team was not real? :wtf:

Regarding drivers Toto will not let RUS go indeed.
That's a shame because it would be good for Alpine.

In France, there are rumors of Alpine interested in GAS instead of OCO. In my opinion OCO career is already complicated, he will be a second driver somewhere, nothing more.

But I don't believe GAS is a top driver either, better than OCO yes, but Alpine will need a real top driver and there are not so many, they will have to focus on a promising young guy.

Agreed. It’s honestly shocking to see how low the quality control bar is at the moment.
Honda changed both Gasly and Perez ES and CE, Red Bull had glitches with Perez's car, Williams had problems on Latifi's car, Haas had a brake by wire failure on Mazepin's car, Ferrari had glitches on Sainz car...

Everybody has had issues all weekend long and you're taking a dig at quality control at Alpine for a deployment issue on Alonso's car? I don't think you are judging fairly.
To add to that, Mercedes engines were suffering derates...
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

GAS would be perfect.... as a strong number 2 driver.

I don't see him being a top driver such a Verstappen, Hamilton, Ricciardo or even Leclerc

I think you’re selling him a bit short, let’s wait and see what he does for this season first.

The thing that stuck with me is that RBR didn't bring him back in. I know they've given up too early before ... Could they have done it again ?

Let's see if Sergio earns a new 2 yr deal at the end of this one.

Gasly is very good, but I say Alpine need to replace Ocon not with a n° 2 driver, but with the one will inheritate Alonso place after his experience work to relaunch the team and hopefully win some races. Probably ALonso will not drive more than 2 years I guess. I adore him but is gettin older, even that he showed fantastic ability still now. The main purpose he is there is offering his gigantic experience to guide technical growth from track

Has it been confirmed that Alonso's deployment issue was not caused by the overheating brakes?

If they have a very good car next year, they'll be lining up for 2023.

Well the brakes caused a problem with deployment. There was a smaller deployment problem before that we're unsure of what the cause of that was.
