Max outdone again. Perez who supposedly was meant to be rear gunner, nowhere with one of the fastest car. Just shows what quali does. Last year Honda would lose position in start at least this year they seem to be much better in launch.

Pace is not there, how are you gonna answer anything? Strategy that mercedes is pulling right now only works because they are faster in the first place. Same as hungary 2019.
At least try it. Not stay out being a mobile chicane. Same as Hungary 2019. Enough pace to defend at least. Not with a 30lap tires
Jub. After first lap of Merc pitstop they were still ahead nearly 2 seconds.
Where are you getting this? It's simply not true. Hamilton on his outlap gained 0.35s in S2 and 0.8s in S3. Overtake done. Dont listen to clueless commentator who think red bulls missed a trick here, they didn't. Even Verstappen knows there was nothing they could have done, simply too slow.

Again RB got fuc**d by strategies and being unable to answer. That's not how you win championships
They are not going to win anything this season if they continue this way. Fresh new set of red tires and they decide to leave him out because computer says Hamoltin will catch him last lap. Pure gold!
I think they were afraid to be stuck behind Bottas unable to pass, which was a possibility.

And the slow 1st pitstop where they lost 2seconds didn't help

That’s a multi-championship team showing it’s strength in experience. It was disappointing not seeing VER pitting immediately to counter HAM’s 2nd stop. Who cares about BOT just have to do everything to keep in front of HAM to keep the overall championship in mind and take points off him.

Seriously, defend what? Hamilton has already overtaken him at that point.
At the time Ham was on the outlap, Max was still ahead, so I don't know what you are trying to say. A brave team goes for it and try to defend it, but today they were losers, only waiting to see a slow dead.

Verstappen's sector times at the time of hamilton's outlap:
0.6s lost in S2 (i misread in my earlier post when i typed 0.35s)
Image

and here we can see hamilton third sector on outlap. Verstappen loses another 0.8s (27.9 vs 27.1).

There would also be some loses in first sector but those cant be know exactly. Overall, no chance to cover the undercut. I hope that makes it more clear.

He was just after the pits 1,2s ahead of the 22s, so why no try it? I think you don't understand what I'm trying to say

Hamilton entered pitlane at 0.634s deficit. Yes, red bull could have pitted for softs lets say, but then what? Hamilton is ahead with much more pace and end result is the same. Verstappen was struggling a lot in his first stint on soft so odds of him putting any serious pressure on Hamilton are miniscule.

At least they got fastest lap this way.

I think it’s much harder with strategy when winning, with everything to lose and nothing to gain. If you’re behind you can roll the dice to see what you might be able to do, and you can at worst hold station or at best gain.

The Red Bull strategy guys have done a lot of great stuff so it’s unfair to give them both barrels for today. You could say they were outthought but that’s harsh. the truth is your hands are tied more when you are narrowly leading.

Yeah, I think Max would have needed a 4 or 5 second gap to be able to comfortably cover and undercut attempt.

I think the Merc has been faster since race 1. In qualyfying it is Max who goes to the complete limit and then still only has 1 pole. He overtook Hamilton in every race so far, there really isn’t much more he can do. They are much closer but still not close enough. Perez is lagging behind too far compounding the issue for Max. Not only a slower car, but also 2 VS 1.

Well, I think from now on it will be a walk through the park for Merc. They have better race pace and also 2 drivers. Like I said before the race, I think with Merc winning here with more pace, it's game over for this year. And Ham will take that 8th title. Sad but most likely right now :(

I remember Lewis was about virtually 1,2s behind Verstappen after his 2nd stop. He was not that fast on his outlap.
