we could be anywhere from 4th - 8th today lets hope Lando can pull one out

Alpha, Ferrari's look quicker... and even a speedy Alonso

Did leclerc go on softs at the end there? Would be nice if he didn't have a tire advantage in terms of strategy tomorrow.
Leclerc in Softs, yes… the only one with Mediums is Bottas.

Daniel’s P11 is probably a blessing in disguise… Yes, it’s hard to overtake and having a clean getaway will be critical tomorrow (and harder on the Mediums compared to the Softs)… But, he will have a big tire advantage towards the end of each stint… Potential for a big overcut at the end of the first stint and big tire advantage at the end of race

It’s so close! Let’s hope Lando can put it all together and be at the front of the midfield

But how many places can he get from that tyre advantage from a GP that is hard to pass?

Pretty sure Lewis is on mediums too

Lewis went out on Softs, I don’t know if he completed his lap though

2 tenths between P5 and P9… This is going to be tough.

Bravo to Lando. He starts in front of the Ferrari and I'm sure that he will clear Gasly quickly tomorrow. Also despite the setback it is important that Daniel starts several places in front of Sainz. The day was saved to a track that is against Mclaren and punishes our weakness to slow corners

Very nice lap from Lando… Awfully close to been P4… It hurts a bit when you are that close, but he put the lap together when he had to and that’s what matters… Gasly will be hard to overtake on track, but it will be a long race tomorrow.

It’s key that we have one car in front of each Ferrari at this point… Regardless of how we finish in the race, if we can keep that by the end of race, mission accomplished!

I am confident that the might of the Mercedes Engine on the back of our car will make mincemeat of that Honda Engine in the Alpha Tauri and we will pass Gasly at the start.

Would have been P4 with his Q2 lap. Can't complain though, didn't seem like we had a lot of pace today, compared to the competition, so this is a great position to be in.

Let's just hope Daniel can gain something from starting in the mediums tomorrow. With Carlos crashing, it's important get as much points on Ferrari as possible.

How can we explain though that we could not replicate that Q2 lap?

The track got slower in Q3, as they said on sky, the clouds cleared and the sun was beaming on the tarmac, heating it slightly more.
It seems that if Lando would have used his new tires on the first run he would have been P4 easily, but this is hindsight, as well as Perez not making it to the line for his last lap.
In an ideal world P5 was best case scenario probably, P6 isn't that bad.
Let's hope Lando can make some magic with the long run to the first lap.
He is starting on the 'wrong' side of the grid, so let's cross our fingers.

There has been some talk of a significant chance of rain. That could mix things up. Maybe McLaren should gamble on a wet weather setup on one of the cars and try to snatch a podium, maybe even win, as I doubt Merc or RBR would be in a position to risk that.
doesn't a wet weather setup pretty much just involve bolting on downforce? Because they’re doing that anyway
Higher ride height as well, which means bad handling in dry conditions.
The higher ride height comes from the tyres having a slightly larger diameter
