A shameless image thread for the enginephiles

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

195 hp/L, naturally aspirated K24. What sort of NA hp/L is common in drag racing? MotoGP & F1 peaked around 300hp/L, iirc.

Last of the motorcycle G.P. 2-strokes were making ~440hp/litre - N/A...

Current 2T developments have putatively raised max TQ output to ~15,000rpm,
thus an N/A ~140hp 250cc & ~560hp per litre.

Ol' man Honda had a thing for air-cooling back then, even insisting that G.P. machines were built that way..
both bikes & F1...

No, it was sold in Australia & was raced in the Bathurst 6-hour enduro..

NSU ( Germany) Chevrolet ( USA) Tatra ( Czech) also built air-cooled cars - back in those days..

I'm always amazed when I see engines that didn't have cross flow heads, just seems so obvious these days.

What's obvious?

The layout was convenient from a packaging viewpoint, & the piston, cam, ports & valves don't care..
