Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Decent start. I wonder how much they actually found over the winter.

Is it a bend or is it just an open cup allowing air downwards. In any case I think it is applied better then the Mclaren solution used to be.

Based on the light reflection on the pipe, it looks like it flares back out, similar to the RA618 in the STR last year. the RA617 was strangled by that McL design. Doubt that would return.

Maybe covered before, but what is the cooler on the backbone of the engine?
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.

In any case it does look like a special piece of packaging and unfortunately only the Dutchman will be able to take advantage of it going forward. Quite an amazing bit of kit and I think Bahrain will be much closer then Melbourne.

Very interesting topic guys!By the way, could someone put here some data about speed traps by sectors and Max Speeds between different cars and engines? It would be nice to see it! :D

They know what the score is, and their language says all the right things.

Does anyone know what components can be changed out on modern PUs in-between races? Like what wear parts get replaced or freshened up before the next race?

Interesting question, I would like to learn the answer. My expectation (but like Manuel, I know nothing, although unlike him I am not from Barcelona (and my colleagues actually from Barcelona do know a lot) is nothing, the whole PU should be kept closed. maybe some hoses and connections outside.
