Pikes Peak

I was wondering if any data for the pikes peak cars (unlimited class) are available somewhere (if they have been shared). I would be interested to know for example what is the maximum speed these cars reach exactly or what gearbox ratios they are using ! :)

Suzuki published alot of data on their v6 baleno, i'm pretty sure the figures exceed 1bhp per kilogram.

I am also interesting in seeing an onboard camera of a run with some kind of telemetry (at least speed would be nice) of a sub 11min car if possible. I am sure there is a video of a Porsche run around but my memory is not so good. #-o :)

Yes but there is no telemetry apart from the average speed which is kind of irrelevant :|

I don't have real figures but I think they are in the 200+kmh at max speed. Maybe 250 at best.
The newly paved Pikes Peak means they can go faster. Cars will go faster than ever.

I think existing record of Tajima should be in a separate category since they can't be compared with a fully paved version.

Monsters record shouldn't be compared with Rod MIllens then since even less was paved. The record is the record when you start adding modifiers you would have partial wet windy ect modifiers

Yes, the times should not be compared from year to year. I find it a real shame that the spirit of Pikes Peak is gone. No gravel, co-driver help, well it all sounds like a normal rally stage to me. What is next ? Safety barrier all around ?

That what makes you realize how performances such as the 10min47 of Röhrl in 1987 (I have read that he reached in 5 or 6 occasions a top speed of about 200kph) or the 10min04 in 1994 of Millen are amazing compared to today's times with a full paved course.

Anyone recall the Suzuki Escudo Pikes peak?

Came across this car in Gran Tursimo, and could not believe the stats. The in-car footage shows how savage the acceleration is, and there's another video where it sets a record on the old dirt track. Looks like the ultimate go anywhere race car.

And some of the footage here is just balls to the wall insane.

I'm glad more people are interested in Pikes Peak, for a second I thought I was alone there :D

Well I would hope that someone can help with some telemetry (data or onboard video), but in the meantime here are few more videos, as it seems very appreciated !

1) The famous duel between "Monster" Tajima and Millen in 1996

2) The Suzuki Cultus twin-engined machine in action (check at 0'37, 1'21 and 1'41 !)

3) More Escudo action

4) A look at Tajima's 2001 Suzuki before he went to electric-mode

5) Something less usual

6) The 1987 race with the group B legends. I have the tape somewhere but I'm glad there is youtube so I don't have to dig boxes to find it !

7) Finally these 2 videos everybody knows for sure of the legendary Celica

On a side note I have noticed there is a thread for Pikes Peak already : http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... f=5&t=2299
