A dry race provided for excellent racing, with young Maverick V taking a well measured maiden Moto GP win,
providing the 1st for Suzuki in almost a decade, (&1st for a Suzuki 4T - in the dry).

M.V. jetted off to the front after the race was red-flagged/restarted following a messy backmarker crash on the initial lap.
The contest for second provided the racing spectacle with M.M. throwing caution to the wind, & making off track excursions,
by trying too hard, even if his repeatedly effective passes on V.R. were epic..

Cal rode his 2nd string Honda real well to take 2nd place, & V.R eventually took 3rd from M.M. with D.P close behind.
A.I. crashed after riding through to 2nd in some exciting passes, while his factory Ducati team-mate A.D. stayed cool for 6th,
ahead of an equally quiet J.L..

All in all, the British G.P. was a good one, with the dry conditions being a novelty - that encouraged overtaking..

Well done Dani to win from 8th on the grid, & be the the 8th different rider in a row to take the top step on the box, this year.

It shows Dani can still pull a top race effort out of the bag, & from a most excellent start, he did so passing all ahead of him.

V.R. likely figured he had it won after taking the lead from J.L. - who finished 3rd after starting on pole.
M.M rode a fairly quiet race ( for him) to make 4th.

I think tire choices played a pivotal role in this race. I honestly don't know what factory teams are thinking. There's not a race going by at least a couple of top players don't get wrecked over by wrong tire choices.

Interesting article about the effects of recent aerodynamic accoutrements on the riders.

Also interesting quotes from HRC Vice President Nakamoto on some interesting-sounding Honda MotoGP prototypes...

Oh my, that is quite revealing. Yes, that would make sense because the wings could easily add up a few 100kg of aerodynamic load on the bike, which has to be thrown around side to side by nothing else than the human physique. Pedrosa is hit extra hard due him having a low body weight to use as leverage.

Pole: M.M.;

3, J.L..

D.P. was on front row pace but crashed, so starts from 7th, (& is still sans 'winglets').

Another exciting race, won from pole by M.M, after riding like he'd done a deal with 'el Diablo'..

Swamped off the start, by M.V, & J.L. , M.M. had to make accurate passes to gain the lead, only to
lose the (hard compound) front, - but save the bike, brilliantly - so dropping to 5th, on lap 3.

M.M. then picked off those in front - inexorably to win - as he liked, & with fastest lap to boot.

J.L out-rode V.R. for 2nd, & M.V did his best, after leading the race, to come home in 4th.

M.M. now is two victories ( points-wise) clear in front of J.L..

If Rossi continues to create foes at this rate, people like MM, JL and someone in future, would simply gang up and keep Rossi out of every season's championship hunt. In a more ideal situation, JL wouldn't have challenged his team mate in a race like this. But....

Dani Pedrosa is out of the Motegi Japanese G.P. after a practice crash & # collarbone.

Yamaha & Ducati riders have been quicker so far in free practice than Honda ( & at the Honda facility!).
Q sessions are today for the race on sunday

M.M. did Honda proud by taking both the win, & the rider's championship - at Motegi today.

He got the hole-shot from the middle of the front row, only to have J.L. grab the lead with a tighter line in the 1st corner.
M.M. then had to fight off challenges by pole-man V.R., & hunt down J.L..

Amazingly both the factory Yamaha riders had uncontested front end loses, & so M.M. by winning, takes the box & the crown.
A.D. got the factory Ducati into 2nd, with M.V. on the Suzuki in 3rd, with his team mate in 4th.

Even though the weather was excellent, there were crashes galore, both in the race, & earlier on, in F.P. & Q..

M.M. on pole at Phillip Is, well done on a drying track after persistently filthy weather.
Cal C Q'd in 2nd, & the Asparagus bros helped each other to be next, from local hero Mad Jack Miller.

V.R. is in 15th, due to safety infringements ( exceeded prescribed laps allowance on the front tyre).
