M.M. crashed out of a big lead, losing the front on the cold side of the tyre at turn 4, as he had, a couple of years ago.

Cal C. who inherited 2nd, held his nerve to maintain his lead over a questing V.R. ( up from 15th) to win.
This makes him the 1st Brit to win two major class G.P. 's in a season, since Barry Sheene in 1979.

J.L. finished some 20 seconds back..

Yeah JLo is pretty crappy when everything isn't perfect condition him. To my eyes, he never does anything "special" other than consistently fast laptimes, and that's only when the Yamaha is the best bike. Marquez clearly "out-talents" him and an "old man" has been just as good on the same bike.

A good, ( if predictably tropical wet drenched) race on a freshly resurfaced track.

A. Divizioso took his 1st Ducati win, & 1st since 2009, - deservedly so.

Hondas had front grip issues with both Cal C, & M.M. losing it, while in contention...
( M.M. remounted & still finished ahead of Aoki on the on the other factory Honda, Jack Miller rode a quiet race).

A.I. also lost the front, while both factory Ducatis were questing for the lead with V.R..
A. Divizioso saw off V.R. for the win ( & thus the 9th different winner this year).. V.R. having steel brake fade.

J.L. finished on the podium after a careful, but steady race.

Nothing to tell us how horrible Rossi is? How disappointing.

"Horrible" ? Runner-up in the championship wasn't too bad an effort for the old goat..

As for being GOAT, surely - failing to win a race on the Ducati - must exclude him from that accolade..

The only person who could rival his accomplishments is Ago, so I'd put him as 2nd GOAT at the very least.

Depends on the selection criteria... such as win-to-race ratio, & strength of opposition,
( such as when Ago/MV had it easy, with not much - in the late 60s).
At the rate Marc Marquez is racking up race wins/championships, he could be a GOAT candidate too..

Back in Spain for the final Moto G.P. of the season at Valencia.
Qualifying results .

1, J. Lorenzo ( in his last race for the factory Yamaha team).
2, M. Marquez; Honda, ( he tried really hard for pole, but Jorge put in a sublime best one).
3, V. Rossi; Yamaha, ( on the front row, & again showing his improvement in Q this season)
4, M. Vinales; Suzuki ( good Q-effort, & he obviously knows his way around this track).
5, A. Divizioso; Ducati, ( coming off a debut win on the Ducati in the previous race).

What a ride from Marc Marquez to close a 5+ sec gap...what a ride from Lorenzo to judge it to perfection!! Huge battle between Rossi and Iannone..give that man a yamaha and he is going for a championship!! Nice end to the season...it really sets up a nice stage for 2017! I mean what to expect?? Vinales-Rossi vs Marquez...Iannone on a Suzuki ( i really expect him to shine there..he is a very fast rider)...and the big question...will Lorenzo pull a 2007 Stoner or a 2011,2012 Rossi on a Ducati?? This field couldn't be more competitive, there is so much talent in there and so many different styles unlike 10-15 years ago where the only talent in there was Rossi! Bravo MotoGP =D> =D> =D>

P.S. Stoner should have been in there too either in Pedrosa's or Dovisiozo's seat and this would have been stunning

Agreed, while Lorenzo deservedly won, after bolting from the get-go, the contest for 2nd was epic.
The way Marquez overcame the power/acceleration deficit to the Ducati/Yamaha pair on his Honda...
I got the impression that Marquez could've coursed Lorenzo down, yet was being magnanimous in the last race.

Casey Stoner was shown in the Ducati team garage, so no doubt he'll be helping Lorenzo to adapt to the Ducati.

Iannone rode splendidly given his circumstances to seal 3rd & keep Rossi off the box.

Some really good racing, with so many different winners made Moto G.P. season 2016 - a stand out, IMO...
