Yes, a splendid riposte by Team Ducati after their embarrassing debacle in last race..

Spectacular holeshot by Lorenzo to jump into the lead, ( fine 4th too, considering his soft tyres),
& well done Dovi to hold off the hard-charging M.M. for the win, with Dani snagging last spot on the box..

Another fairly pallid showing by the factory Yamaha squad, with Zarco going so capably, & keeping them in check..

Honda was good on acceleration today but ducati was better on braking where marquez shows his difference. And MM not fell after so much pushing limits. If they solved acceleration issue it is good for honda and honda riders.

A fast track needs decent brakes - to match the high speeds achieved..

Part of the big Ducati aero-package.. included large forward-facing air-scoops.. sited on the lower fork legs..
but as to whether they were primarily for brake cooling, aero-downforce, or maybe, both.. who knows?

Certainly, the Honda was running bare fork lowers, & plainly unfaired carbon discs..

Last corner say it all about Marquez... he was leading the WDC, Dovi was faster or at least he was more confortable with the race pace, but still Marquez try it to the end, to the very last corner, entering very long and trying a risky slide with both wheels over the kerb to recover traction asap and compensate the very long braking... :wtf:

Any other driver in his position would have given up several laps ago, or would have crashed while chasing Dovi... not Marquez =D> =D> =D>

And congrats to Dovi who is becoming a very quick and consistent driver. I´m glad Lorenzo is a lot more confortable with the new fairing too. Now we only need Yamaha to solve their problems and the final part of the championship can be epic!

British G.P. Silverstone: & M.M. duly snared pole by dint of hard riding - as he had for the previous 3 races..
& it was a splendid sub 2 minute lap, enough to keep Rossi back in 2nd, for his 300th 'premier class' start.

Brit Honda rider Crutchlow is on 3rd, ahead of the other factory Yamaha & the top Ducati pair in 5th/6th.

Sensational race & victory-plus championship lead -to Dovi!

Rossi had led the race from a superb start, right up to the last few laps.. then was blitzed..
Honda failed.. & while - sadly expected by Alonso in F1, for M.M. to blow an engine, & DNF.. was a shocker..

So finishing order: Dovi 1; Vinales 2; Rossi 3; Crutchlow 4; Lorenzo 5; Zarco 6; Pedrosa 7..

Interestingly, Dovi had reverted to the previous Ducati fairing-aero set-up, while Lorenzo kept the newer one..

Ducati has made significant advances in dynamic rubber race degredation management..
& this has been recently successful - as shown by both Moto GP & WSBK winning results..
..despite their engines having a reputation for being 'fierce' in power application/harsh on tyres..

Re: MotoGP 2017

those are worst possible news for The Doctor, at his age (pretty similar to mine) a broken bone is not the same to 15 years back when we were in the low 20s. That´s the reason I stopped practicing MX...

Hopefully he´ll recover fast and well, but this season is finished when he still had a real chance for his 10th :(

Yeah, real shame - he was still in the title race without having fully found what he wanted from the bike this season, so I had a feeling it might come good for him towards the end. Not now though.

I know the reasons why MotoGP riders do motor cross but you've got to wonder if it's worth the risk, with yet another injury sustained away from the main gig.

Lets be real, chances of rossi title this year were slim at best. So many factors would have to go just right it'd be near impossible for that happen. Especially now with the resurgence of Dovi throwing a spanner in the works all of a sudden.

True, & Rossi hadn't actually won the title - since he 1st broke his leg, several years ago..

Anyhow - back to the Q line up - @ the pending San Marino G.P.;
Rossi's factory team-mate Vinales scored pole, after M.M. crashed (front-end lose, unhurt) in a late attempt to snare P1..
Championship leader Dovi is in 2nd, M.M.:3rd, from Crutchlow 4th, & Lorenzo 5th, with Pedrosa down in 7th, behind a Tech 3..

Well, a fairly dull wet race, even if Lorenzo made an excellent start, to lead - until he crashed out..

M.M. minded his 'P's & Q's' in 2nd, - 'til 'bout the last lap, when he ripped past Petrucci for the win..
& with Dovi finishing in 3rd, its 199 points each for him & M.M., to share the title lead chase..

Pole man Vinales stayed steady for a 4th place, & Pedrosa was way out of his depth.. & foundering nearly, at the back..
