Tragic day. Today will be remembered as the day we lost former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden.

May he rest in piece.

It must be pretty special winning the MotoGP championship and beating a legendary rider like Valentino Rossi.

I actually forgot both were former teammates.

"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

He always seemed to give the most honest interviews. I remember him getting the podium in a race and his interview was "No excuses, I didn't get it done". By all accounts that I have read this evening, he was a well respected and liked member of the racing community, by both his peers and the journalists. I did think, however, that he was going to kill Pedrosa when he took him out. RIP Nicky.

Race in Paradise Nicky.

One of my favorite riders, still remember him stopping to pick up Rossi at Laguna Seca. Truly sad news.

Prayers with his family and friends.Just cannot believe he is no more.

I know this is an old thread but it still pulls at my heartstrings feels etc whenever I read his name being mentioned. It still is so hard to fathom the fact that he faced lot more dangerous moments during his career and walked away unscathed...and then to lose his life from something so trivial...training on a bicycle. It just is very hard to accept. Ride in peace Nicky. You are missed quite a lot. Even by people who never met you in life.

My brother is a motorcycle enthusiast too, he likes keeping posters and frames of bikes. I just happen to see the other day he has a repsol poster with the rider and it was Nicky Hayden in his Glory days. Life is definitely too short.
