The leaked Dallara F2/18 Formula 2 car for 2018 Formula 2 season

2017 will be the final season for Dallara GP2/11 car which has been required since 2011 GP2 Series season. The Dallara GP2/11 car scheduled to retire after 2017 Abu Dhabi Formula 2 round. Formula 2 2018 car's engine will also radically changed from 4.0-litre normally-aspirated V8 to 3.4-litre single-turbo V6 from 2018 season onwards. The front nose and rear wing will be lower to adopt F1-style. The length of the new F2/18 car predicted will be 5100 mm and the width of the new F2/18 car will be 1900 mm or keep 1800 mm and the height of the new F2/18 car unchanged.

On the image you posted it doesn't even look like the nose will be anywhere as low as F1's? It still looks pretty high.
If you no longer go for the space someone always has to leave, you're no longer a racing driver

Yeah, from a purely visual perspective, I'm not a fan of that nose. Looks too flat and shallow (much like the current and future Indycars). Bit of a middle ground, I'd rather they go either properly low like F1 has done, are stay high (less preferable).

Otherwise, it look okay, a bit plain given its just a line drawing. Wheelbase looks rather long though, was hoping with no electrical gubbins they should keep it a little shorter, though I guess the fuel tank is still quite big.

Some extra info:
https://wtf1.com/post/the-specs-for-nex ... -revealed/
According to F2 boss Bruno Michel keeping costs low for teams is still a priority, and therefore the new cars will share many common components with the outgoing cars.
The Mecachrome-built engine will also be different, with the old naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre V8 to be replaced by a 3.4-litre V8 unit based on the one currently used in GP3. Unlike in GP3 however the F2 engine will be turbocharged to bring it into like with current F1 technology, although it won’t be a hybrid unit - again, in the interest of keeping costs down.

Apparently the car is to be unveiled this weekend during the Monza event.

I'm going to miss the current V8 engine. It sounds amazing. But the new turbo units could be cool as well.

I was there for the original retirement of the GP2/11 chassis in Monza in 2013, and the sound of its engine, the way those cars raced it was delightful. I will never forget Sam Bird chasing Fabio Liemer, those guys left it all on the table that race. And watching the two f***wits in Johnny Cecotto Jr and Sergio Canamassas going at it for 40 odd laps way down the field, got that was entertaining, f***wittery at its finest.

Seeing a grid full of future F1, FE and Sports Car drivers was a delight. And it was my first F1 weekend ever. Earplugs were required.

2015 wasn't as good an experience as the driving talent was thinner, and the fact it quickly became very hot in the afternoon, and i forgot my SPF50 spray as i thought it was gonna rain most of the day. Alas, i got grumpy quickly and was very unhappy and went shopping.

Looking to go back to Monza in 2018, if the price is better than this year, and the tour company don't choose flights that are too bloody late on the return.

The exhaust-in-vee gives really neat packaging with only a single turbo. Probably helps create a smoother and higher pitch of the exhaust noise too.

Very interesting the long diffuser which could generate higher down force . Thanks to God , very different concept from F1. This means more aerodynamic weight from underbody instead of wings. That is much better for the show.
When F1 will follow this direction ?

You mean that spec underbody that was also present on previous years car? Yeah, they're not going to use that.
