FIA Formula 2 and GP3 Series looking for more non-European races in the future

Post

Currently FIA Formula 2 and GP3 are lack of non-European races. Only Bahrain and Abu Dhabi available in F2 2017 and Abu Dhabi in GP3 2017. FIA F2 and GP3 Series are planning for more non-European races such as Albert Park, Austin, Interlagos, Marina Bay, Mexico City, Montreal, Shanghai and Suzuka to improve the racing series and also more international. FIA F2 and GP3 international expansion in the future is the great idea. In the past time, GP3 ever visited Bahrain in 2015 and also F2 ever visited Sepang and Singapore since F2 was named GP2 Series.

For Formula 2 this would really be great. It would be a good way to introduce the drivers to a worldwide championship.

Now, generally it would be a good idea for GP3, too, but I'm wondering how significant GP3 still is anyway. With GP2 being the new F2, the official "ladder" from F4 to F1 is complete. GP3 seems "out of place" now even more than it already did before.

The ladder should be F4 (national championships) -> F3 -> F2 -> F1. F1 should not try to reinvent the wheel. A ladder like in MotoGP (regional championships -> Moto3 -> Moto2 -> MotoGP) is the way to go.
