Boundary layer suction

As an aside, didn't the early model BF109's (pre g series and possibly pre f series) have a boundary layer suction tunnel for it's radiator inlets?

AFAIK this started with the F-series

as I have looked for an answer to this, without success (my PC not getting the pictures in the posts) .....

a radiator would be best served by ingesting undisturbed air not moving turbulent (boundary layer) air
if that aim was reached by the 109 etc radiator design the outcome would be unrelated to the OP desire for drag reduction ?

Yes indeed, it was introduced on the F series and dispensed with on the G series.
