Lateral Load Transfer

Post

Something that's been confusing me for a while.

Reading through books such as Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics, for TLLT we have the contribution of the side force acting on the rigid body, and then also the transfer from roll stiffness (springs + arb). If so, then why does every other book or person say that the "total load transfer is only a function of the vehicle track width and cg height, and the springs/arb only alter how much is distributed per axle". Really confusing and various sources contradict one another.

You'll find a quite complete explanation on this blog post. http://racingcardynamics.com/weight-transfer/

And it takes into account both contributions, elastic and kinematic.
