I'm actually quite sure there is a plugin for phpBB that prevents people from posting multiple links in posts. Set the limit at two, a guest posts three links or more and he gets moderated.
Or even better would be a plugin (or hack whatever) that disables guests from posting links.

Why are there always people in life who want to spoil peoples fun by advertising useless non F1 items. I am fairly new to this site and I must admit it is the best F1 site I have found to date (and I have been an F1 fan for 12 years and travel the world to watch the races), to those who run this site and those who post on here - keep up the good world and roll on March when as Murray would say those cars are go go go!

hope you all enjoy the season, and thanks for creating a great site!

Good move Tomba.

Hopefully that should sort the problem out.

Just a shame that the spammers ruined it for the honest well meaning guests.

Manchild's got a good piont, but that still doesnt prevent people putting offensive material in their posts. Its not just the Spamers, its also those people who make needless offensive posts.

Remember that one who posted "F1 Sucks" in the middle of a good debate?

Or that fool who wrote "This site is crap its a rip off from [some random site]" or something like that

We just dont need that, and I for one feel that it needs to stop not just because its plain rude, but also because Tomba, Principessa and some others give up countless hours of their precious time working hard to make this great site the best it can be, and a friendly place too....they just dont need comments like that, its not fair on them.

I spose banning guest posts is a move that nobody really wants to have to make as a webmaster, but in the end it has to be done to keep this forum a nice friendly place to chat and discuss with friends...which of course it is! :D

I guess now is a good time to add, great work Tomba & Principessa...the site is great and we all appriciate your endless hard work! :) 8)

LMAO....hehe, this is the one that REALLY got me laughing at how immature some guests are:

Its starts where our "guest" posts:
bitch; fool ; --- this forum is dead ; next ATLAS F1 the real f1 tecnical forum
Nice eh? The topic is here:
viewtopic.php?p=6142

But this is EXACTLY what Im talking about. Tomba puts so much work into this site allong with principessa and the last thing they need is a comment like that. It really isnt fair on them!

It makes me so angry. But that said, I did like the way everyone ganged up on the guest and made him look like a baby.

Thts ok, I mean, I love F1, and the site really is great, I tell lots of my friends at Uni bout it cos I know they'll love it too. And everyone here is so friendly its just nice. I sometimes post on ultimatecarpage.com, but the forum member are sometimes very rude so i often dont bother with them.

so when someone tries to disrupt the nice nature of this site its angers me seeing as we are all friends here, an example is how I often chat to manchild on MSN, who has helped me with some ICT relatd problems. So when someone disrespects my friends here it angers me.

And I think the work you all do is so good, it deserves applause, not ruse comments like those listed above. And I try to do my bit, if i ever find a Spam post I usuall email or PM Tomba about it. In fact I found a registered "user" who's username is sumthing like "videos.porn.008" so i reported it to tomba. Im just trying to do my little bit to help my friends thats all :)

Would it be possible to disable guest posting in the offtopic forum as well? It's getting really out of hand.

This site is definatly a great example of how when people come together and provide unoffensive, polite and exciting comments, we can stand up to anyone who tries to ruin it.

I am sorry to the majority of guests who are really nice and friendly, but it looks like this is the way it has to be. I advise any guests to just register. There is absolutly nothing to loose, and we still get to enjoy you're interesting opinions.

again more spamposts... it seems like there are more and more every day.

Sorry about it, but I've disabled all guest posting, we just don't like to put out time into removing posts by spambots that post as annoying guests.

Btw... I've traced the sources back, and all of them are originating from Korea and neighbouring countries in Asia.
