Hamilton did great considering the problems he had (kers + gearbox). We lost 2nd today and could have been ahead of ferrari in WCC if kimi hadn't been so lucky with the penalties of the other drivers. Barring that, hamilton could have been on a par with the ferrari driver. With today's result we still have to make up three points to overtake them. It's a shame we didn't manage to get more than six points out of the japanese gp.
Mclaren need to raise their game (reliability) because in signapore the kers was also malfuctioning. Today it cost us second place. I don't get it why hamilton said yesterday that the kers is working better then ever: clearly not. First of all: it is malfunctioning, secondly: our starts seem to be less efficient compared to earlier in the season.
Kovalainen should be sacked, he's a nice bloke but he is way too slow to drive a mclaren. Please get rosberg or raikkonen.
Next two grand prix should be okay if mclaren can be reliable and no penalties are given to non-ferrari drivers. I think we can be 3rd overall at the end of the season, certainly if hami manages to win one more gp. Looks like abu dhabi is our biggest chance. Brazil should be ok, maybe another podium if the brawn drivers keep messing up like in signapore and suzuka.

You could have been ahead if Hamilton didn't lose the car in Italy...

I always find it fascinating how fans of a team will make themselves believe they are part of it. All this "we" "us" and "our" stuff makes me laugh and cringe at the same time.

Don't see anything to laugh or cringe about. I find it being a convenient way to talk about a team you openly support. It's not a bit funnier than being a sports fan itself.

.... and another 6 if he hadn't got in a tizz in Oz.
So that 12 points lost.
On the other hand, Lewis has got nearly all the McL points on his own, whereas Ferari had two decent drivers with Massa & Kimi.

Ahum:
Kimi: 45
Lewis: 43
Ferrari: 67
McLaren: 65
The difference between McLaren and Ferrari is the difference between Kimi and Lewis. Their teammates have contributed the exact same 22 points to their respective teams.

Lewis crashed in Monza and Spa.. so Lewis should have more points if you consider the crashes.. so it all goes back to Kovi not giving a good proportion of points.

HK hasn't done very good lately but it could be him picking up a point or two that gives Mclaren an edge for 3rd place. Doesnt look like Fisichella is going to score any points so Heikki has the oppertunity to make a big difference for the team.

Massa was only in 9 races for his 22 points. At that stage Heiki got 5 points, Kimi had 9 points, Lewis had 10 points.
In those 9 races, Massa finished ahead of his team mate 5 times out of 4. Heiki has only finished twice ahead of Lewis in 15 races, by a single place in China, and thanks to Lewis's getting shunted in Spa.
The real diff between the two teams is Massa'a accident. If it wasn't for that the McL would be stuck in 4th, well behind behind Ferrari.
The point is that McL need a very fast number 2, or two equal drivers, if they are to go for the WCC next year.

It's all irrelevant. No ifs, no maybes, no nothing. This is the situation and these are the numbers, no amount of history and/or predictions is going to change that.

I really regret that this technical posting has turned into a fanboy ying yang.
