You can see this intakes on this picture as Raikkonen is testing updates on e20. Also notice the new RW with central drs activator.

Autosport or someone mentioned that they might be debuting the DDRS this weekend. Might the new intakes part of it?

It looks very much like something akin to DDRS. Broader endplates with the suggestion of ducts, lower duct exiting over the crash structure and a lot of small holes around the place, where lower part of the wing connects with the endplate.

They are blowing the rear wing to stall it better with DDRS rather than the front wing like Mercedes does.

They already have the best top speed, so you wonder if they'll use this solution to give them the ability to run more wing whilst maintaining a similar top speed.

Since qualifying's been their downfall this season, you can see why they particularly would see the benefit in a "super-DRS"

it might be just me, but i honestly don't think lotus have a DDRS in the sense that merc has one...ie with tubes allegedly stalling the front wing as well to balance the car better. IMHO i think, because of all the politics when merc came out with the DDRS and every other team was moaning about a gentleman's agreement, that lotus has implemented a passive F-duct. if you recall, merc was the only team that operated a passive f-duct back then..ie non driver operated later on. So perhaps lotus are disguising the passive duct as n Fuddy duddy (and quite ugly you have to admit) "DDRS"--(dr evil Lazer voice.) The illusive DDRS is also a moot point really, as its advantage other than maybe quali is debatable. Some people argue that mercs lack of top speed this year points toward the fact that they are setting their cars up with a lot more downforce and the DDRS is somehow compensating for that on the straights..but i don't know..maybe they had to do this to get the crap tires to work. I feel lotus did something a lot simpler...something that can be used the whole time during the race...especially on a track like this with lots of straights. might be sneaky, but smart if you ask me...and a passive "f-duct" is totally legal.

thats probably why it is also only on RAI's car :lol: :oops:

It was just mentioned on this page that it isn't for the front wing. Everything leads to another method to blow the rear wing along with the moveable flap up top.
