McLaren MCL33 Speculation thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Like ot or not it is a Mclaren Honda on the add and I find it funny they use as it os one of the most recognazibles cars of history, specially when they are departing from Honda https://www.dropbox.com/s/vl0y2evuvz3ch ... 7.png?dl=0
Why shouldn't it be in, they have great history together and this shouldn't be ignored or forgotten just because it didn't work out this time.

Nothing strange or funny in there. Just you trying to provoke/troll.
Either that or you're just bitter about McLaren ending the Honda partnership.
I think for most people who’ve been around a bit longer, it’s not the McLaren-Honda that stands out, but more the McLaren-Marlboro, what some people link to Honda... while there was also Ford, TAG and Peugeot (and even a year of Mercedes)
That model is an Honda it is not an association.

Even back then, Senna complained that working with Honda/their engineers is not as great as some might imagine.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Funny that the most recognisable car of the add it is the Mclaren-Honda
No idea what you're on about.

Bruce's first car (Austin 7)
Hunt's 76 championship car (M23)
Senna's 88 championship car (MP4-4)
Hamilton's 08 championship car (MP4-23)

Each one easy to identify...

...but then again just like your "no one allowed to talk about the budget gap" post you're probably just here to provoke. :D
Actually its fittipaldi's Mclaren

There are rumours of a barge board fluidic switch tumbling around.

So a fluidic switch that, what, reduces the drag of the bargeboard at a certain speed?

Sounds very much like ‘the device’/DDRS but no one got that to work properly; I’ve always been a bit surprised it wasn’t pursued further but why would be a different story with bargeboards?

Also, is this rumour McLaren specific?

I know it is tempting for both Parties to pick on each other but this Thread is not about the McLaren Honda Partnership. So stop it please. Posts have been removed.

Who started the rumours? If there was such a thing, it would be illegal....movable aero device.

Fluidic swtiches are not movable aero.

How do they get round the moveable aero rule with a fluidic switch?

Because there are no moving parts, it will be tuned to move air in different directions at different speeds. No way to ban this unless they ban all parts of the car.

Ah ok, I had something flexing slightly at a certain pressure dictated by speed which would then divert the air in a different direction.

But what you're saying makes sense that the flow characteristics will change as the speed/flow increases.
