F1 OTT service - where will it be available?

Post

From what can be seen in the media, there will be an F1 OTT streaming service for 2018. season. The question is - which countries will get it?

Does anyone have any reliable information about this?

A survey distributed by Hall & Partners on behalf of Formula 1 last weekend suggested that only five countries will have access to the live over-the-top service at launch. They are USA, Mexico, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. You can add Spain and the rest of Latin America to that list based on more recent rights announcements.

Broadcasting rights within existing contracts in other countries are the problem.

Nice. Sky is out in Germany 2018, so we get the OTT stream. Looking forward to it, because I'm for sure not going to watch F1 on RTL.

More infos: https://www.pitpass.com/61030/F1-stream ... -6-a-month
Streaming, is "not a near-term revenue driver but important long-term" claimed the bank, which forecasts that only 104,000 users will subscribe this year at an estimated monthly cost of £6 ($7.99) providing just £5.4m ($7.5m) of revenue.

I wonder if that is £6 a month for the months F1 is on, or a year at £6 per month? Not a huge difference but a significant one

yeah! i think to start out, all they need to do is have 2-3 static camera's and live timing. have 1 camera looking from turn 1 up the start finish straight. 1 camera at T9 looking down the back straight, and a Camera looking down the pit lane. Simple, no need for camera men, just put the camera there and broadcast it along with live timing. Simple, and the proper fans would be ecstatic

A simple VPN is often times not enough to bypass a serious geoblocked platform.

I doubt it'll be that cheap, or that so few people join. I think 10x the amount they're projecting.

Let us just say that I have access to 50 Gigabits of throughput in 10 countries all over the world.. It is kind of what I do for a job. I hope I will get the service running.
