At McLaren a technological partner is not the same as a sponsor, they call them "corporate partners". Lets wait how big it's on the car... Maybe they will be both.

So the rumors were true and the link that Goran shared yesterday. Great news for Mclaren, Zak is sailing this ship in the right direction
i think whit this 4 new sponsors Mclaren is slowly aproching the 100m $ that is missing from Honda, maybe not quite there yet but closing....good job Zak.
You are such a dreamer, unbelievable.
It would be nearly unbelievable in McLaren's current situation if only one of these new partners is paying a double-digit sum.

The Petrobras deal will deliver a further financial boost to McLaren, with executive director Zak Brown having revealed recently that the team was on course to hit its 2018 commercial objectives – even though there would not be a title sponsor.

"I don't think we will have a principal partner going into this season," he said. "We definitely want one. Our business ramp up is one where we want to get back to where we were in sponsorship over a three to four year period.

"We are on target for our financial goals for sponsorship revenue for this year, and I think again that will just build momentum."

I think it is not a matter of money only.

Airgain produces a range of wireless antennas that will be used at MTC & races and possibly on cars.

With Dell you have both Hardware and Software to be used.

Petrobras to also develop Lubricants & Fuel (2019) and can add to PU performance if they get it right.

Adds a lot to the overall resources for the team to utilize.

Very positive in my book.

From many perspectives, McLaren needs to avoid signing a main sponsor until the end of the season, as their last years have been so bad they have lost all bargaining power and leverage in negotiations. If they have the money to keep running, they will pospone this decision unless a very good offer is on the table.

If Renault engine helps their competitiveness they will capitalize this "Mclaren comeback" as some kind of marketing motto. That's unvaluable media attention.

McLaren doesn't use the word "sponsor", they use the word "partner".

Yes, I think it comes down to:

- technical partner: gives their stuff for free.
- corporatie partner: gives money.
- official suppliers: gives a discount.

McLaren and @Petrobras have agreed a long-term technology partnership in Formula 1

The change will take effect for the 2019 season,

McLaren continuing with BP/Castrol for this year.

hence why we won't see a green-yellow car for sure for this year.

BP/Castrol fuel will be used this year, but the Petrobras deal already starts now. It could be rebadged, like Petrobras did with Williams.

Petrobras is back in Formula 1, after forming a technical partnership with McLaren on Monday 19 February.

The agreement provides for a technology partnership to develop high-performance fuel and lubricants, and the partnership may be extended to other strategic areas, such as the sharing of technologies between the parties. The Petrobras brand will be displayed on the team’s cars, uniforms and physical facilities.

Pedro Parente, CEO, Petrobras said:
“Partnerships are strategic for Petrobras. The technologies developed for Formula 1 will be transferred to the products we offer our customers, and being at the forefront of fuel and lubricant development is of value to our company, its shareholders and customers”.

Zak Brown, Executive Director, McLaren Technology Group, commented:
“Brazil’s passion for Formula 1 is legendary and the country has produced some of the most iconic names in Formula 1 history. We are delighted to deepen our relationship with Brazilian F1 fans through our partnership with Petrobras, a flagship brand for the nation. Petrobras is an ambitious organisation and we look forward to McLaren being an accelerator and enhancer in their brand-building efforts.”

As part of the agreement, Petrobras, through its CENPES Research Centre, will develop gasoline and engine lubricants specially formulated for the team, which will be used in races in the 2019 season. The company will have a laboratory in the McLaren team’s garage during practice sessions and races, allowing real-time analysis of fuel performance.

Hugo Repsold, Director of Production Development and Technology, Petrobras, emphasised:
“We consider Formula 1 the best possible laboratory for testing new fuels and lubricants due to the extreme conditions to which it subjects engines. After being tested to their limits, new fuels and lubricants will be applied in conventional cars and used by our consumers in their daily lives”.

Bruno Motta, Executive Manager for Communication and Branding, Petrobras, said:
“This deal is completely aligned with our brand positioning, which values knowledge and our unique technical capabilities to develop solutions. It is also associated with one of the main strategies in our Business and Management Plan, which is to prepare the company for a future based on a low-carbon economy by developing high-quality, highly energy-efficient fuels”.

Eric Boullier, McLaren Racing Director, said:
“The effective development of the fuels and lubricants we race is a mission-critical contribution to our primary objective of success in Formula 1. Petrobras is already highly experienced and successful in Formula 1 and we are extremely impressed by the resources and specialists at their disposal.

"The CENPES research and development facility in Rio is world-class and has quickly demonstrated to McLaren, and our engine partner Renault, its capability to deliver the best. We look forward to a long and highly successful partnership with Petrobras.”

I hope to god this doesn't end up being a horsepower killer like some previous incidents in Formula 1 and varying fuel suppliers...
I'm not crazy about customer teams making deals with different petroleum companies... Playing with fire at best..

It simply cannot be as productive as a manufacturer doing close analysis with the company. McLaren don't get that sort of PU access.

No-one outside of Woking and Viry knows that for certain.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I would imagine that regardless of their performance, their will be a lot of focus on McLaren this season, which means exposure for sponsors....sorry, partners....

Did Williams used Petrobras fuel in 2016 since they where they sponsors?
