Guys, do you think is possible that Mercedes is doing some strange things with fuel pump. Some hidden liquid inside and injecting with fuel together? It seams strange that they had problem in Austria with that.

Not possible. Highly illegal and too much risk of being caught. Would be Lance Armstrong scale bad.

So were the rear wheel heat sinks, on Hamilton's car at least, too effective? He said on team radio a few times in the race that the rears were on the cold side.

I don't know what to believe with the radio messages any more. You can't tell if the message is a bluff for the other teams especially with Lewis.

it was clear that everyone were going 3 to 4 sec slower than what they could, the fastest lap by Magnussen is 1 sec faster than anyone on track. Lewis was complaining on radio that he needs to push to keep these tyres alive. This indicates the tyres went cold due to lack of any meaningful pace.

So it looks like the new rear rims as well as a barely noticed new rear drum design is what has allowed Merc to improve it's rear tire management.

Clever stuff. Would Mercedes have been expected to struggle with the rear tyres elsewhere in the remainder of the races? If so, presumably this system will be helpful there too. Might help tip the balance in Mercedes' favour...
