if F1 going to keep same engine concept then it is difficult for other to close gap to Mercedes. Just removing MUG-H(I think) won't give other team to close the gab. I suspect Mercedes already working on 2021 engine. It is very difficult to beat them till 2025 in which the entire rule change will come.

It is a assumption not actual picture.

Points suggest otherwise.

If you look at peak performances the gap is closed. BUT the PU is more than that. I think the package of the Mercedes PU (overall reliability -> have more power for more laps, drivability, integration into chassis, unlock power from one moment to the other) is far better than the other's.

Everyone to remain same except at Haas where one, possibly both, drivers will be out, possibly sooner if they crash into each other again. The replacement will be odd - someone who has either not raced in F1 or been out a long time.

Points are awarded to a car package, not in isolation for PU alone. Williams and RP, which used to be at the front of mid field, purely with the power of the PU in the past, are now decorating back of the grid as the other teams like Haas, Sauber and Toro Rosso have credible donkey sitting at their rear and have surged forward.

One will be Hulkenberg.

If Perez leaves RP, that would be another excellent choice, else for the second car, how about:
- Vandoorne
- Wehrlein
- Ericsson
- Vergne
- Hartley
- de Vries (seems to be overlooked?)
- Nasr!?
- Palmer!? ($$$)
- Sutil!?
- Buemi!?
- di Resta!?

Or, drumroll....

- Rossi!? :o :o

Can HAAS put the deal together for Alexander Rossi!? That would be a coup for the "American" team!

No Rossi just signed (last month) a new long year contract in Indy with Andretti as has no intention of leaving Indy

That's a "make money while you can" move. Good luck to him, but it's an admission that his career is over.
