Looking forward to this one! RedBull always been strong, Ferrari will be there or there abouts. Max vs Charles vs Seb. Plus the title race goes to Austin.

Mexico is a power unit equalizer. Near Monaco-levels of downforce required here. All thanks to the altitude.

Highest circuit elevation on the calendar.

Tires have been the most important factor here for the last several seasons. How do this year's tire selections by pirelli compare to last? Merc suffered from massive graining last year Mexico and this year Monaco, but tires may be a moot point for Merc if they suffer the same overheating problems they did in Austria because of the extreme altitude of Mexico. Ferrari may have a cake walk here, until Vettel makes one of his signature mistakes.

In the past, Red Bull's rate of development late season and Renault's PU that came on par with other Manufacturers as they did not have to run as conservative as others meant, Red Bull were strong. But this year, they have fallen behind in development of the car and we are still to witness how Honda performs here with RB chassis. With Mercedes leading the slow corner performance with Ferrari almost close, the past slow corner advantage of Red Bull also doesn't exist. I expect them to be where they have been in the past few races, comfortable third best car.

I agree with you so much on Red Bull that i'm starting to think that the conventional wisdom of "last year of regulations just keep evolving what you got" might not be the best to them, for all their chassis reputation they have been markedly average, maybe they need a shake up and more aggressive thinking.

But that's off topic... Mercedes vs Ferrari, Red Bull watching from afar.

Very true, and looking back at last year for Max,

Suzuka Q3 rained so cant really compare the gap from RedBull to Mercedes. Sochi Max didnt set a time in Q2. Singapore Max was only 3 tenths off pole, on the front row. This year he was second row and 6 tenths off pole. So compared to the others, they are definitely further behind this year. And when it came to Mexico Max was a tenth ahead of Lewis.

But I do still expect Max to be in with a chance , especially with a still fresh PU after a short race in Japan.

You remember how Mercedes were in a limbo of running their new wheel rims last year at this point due to the fear of a Ferrari protest? They were focused on wrapping up the title than competing hard. That skews the competitive landscape for last year at this stage.

How will the altitude affect the Mercedes cooling do you think, if at all?

So if Mexico is an engine equalizer and teams use max down force, this track should be perfect for us to see how much of Ferrari's straight line speed is down to their aero concept.

Ferrari Q 1-2, MV +0,5s from pole, title race was over 10 GPs ago or before the season.

Mercedes: (one race) "we let them race", (next one) pathetic team orders to keep a place. If you lie like that in a global car market you go to jail like VW folks, in F1 it's normal =P~ .
