I've driven my friends hopped up BRZ and it's not even close to being in the same class as a Vette...not even close.
Hell it's made to have massive oversteer.
And what do you mean we think a live axle is modern? The Vette has IRS is there something more modern that's better?

Ok, so no American mere mass-production machine can match a McLaren, or a Gordon Murray,
(Even if Bruce's mighty CANAM sports-racers did run Chev-power) but IMO...

GM Chevrolet's Corvette is an amazing machine, & on so many levels, from the
very fact of its continued existence in GM Corporate's line-up over the decades,
to its curious combination of 'plastic-fantastic' style & 'Detroit V8' basics, up through
Le Mans winning speed & endurance.

For those decrying the mighty 'vette as a primitive 'live axle' machine, well FYI,
they've been IRS since way back in`63, (when Corvair was 'a poor mans' turbo-Porsche too),
& to be fair, while a DOHC 4V was offered, the upgraded pushrod 2V has proved better value.

(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

Hey you’re stating facts. No one should ever allow facts to get in the way of a good “American people are basically cave men” rant. I mean the US citizens are all clearly evil destroyers of cute babies and they all eat the souls of good “woke” socialists. So, obviously, they are clearly stupid and evil. What’s that you say? The Corvette offers performance to equal ANY European supercar at a MUCH LOWER price? Blasphemy!! Blasphemy, I say!!!!

JEEEEEEZ J.A.W. You almost made me short out my keyboard with all the salivating.
Super nice collection. Would be hard to pick one I liked best from either the cars or bikes.

The 3 cylinder test engine at 12.000 rpm sounds pretty good

Entirely different proposition. The Corvette is aimed at USians that think live rear axles are kinda modern. Metal chassis? Really?
What will beat in performance to price ratio? Go on, I'll wait.
Lotus exige, Ariel atom, caterham.

Hell you can take a BRZ/FRS/GT86 and tune it to be a whole lot faster for less money.

The argument you make is silly.
This is really not correct.
Im a huge Lotus fan, its way up on my dream car list.
But.... No Lotus or Caterham for the same price is anywhere near the value prop of the new Vette in the US.
The Atom is close to the same price and a great value for the performance, but not the rest of the day to day drive/live ability.

If I could get a new Lotus for the same price as the Vette with the same performance I would but you cant in the US.
heck even the base atom is nearly the same price as the base Vette.

I'm not even an american car fan, but the new Vette is an amazing car with better performance then anything in its price band in the US.

Heck a Lotus Exige that is 8 years old with worse hp/lbs is still over 80k over here in alot of cases.
A 2008 Exige with 50k miles go for nearly the cost of a new Vette and are still slower.

That's some boast. The F1's engine is widely regarded as holding that title currently.

I wonder how much architecture this engine will share with the Aston engine.

Oooh tuesday! Wonder if they'll do a demo lap ahead of the second race at Silverstone next week?
