I think so 😅
James Allison has to be the most articulate person I've seen in F1 👌🏻

Biggest positive development shared in the video seems to be that they think they’ve figured out their front tire warmup issues going forward, and just need another FP session to confirm.

It s just two bad they didn't figure it out until after the 2 tracks where it matters most!

Haha well said!

Could hopefully be helpful though in having better pace at the beginning of stints and after restarts/pit stops though.

That has been costly almost everywhere this year and will continue to be until they sort it.

Was also interesting to hear how the front tire warmup problems affected them negatively from a strategic perspective in qualifying, too. That second lap after the outlap is a killer and prob. takes a bit out of the rears.

So this is the legendary Mr. Elliot huh. Out of the shadows into the limelight now. Interesting to see how he does.

The shortened preseason testing has negatively effected both teams and drivers this year. I hope next season we go back to the full 6 days, or even more seeing as the cars are changing significantly.

How different would the season be playing out right now had Mercedes not had the power unit calibration issues with the larger intake plenum and balance/tyre warmup complications? On the other hand Honda have had their share of power unit problems too.

The shortened preseason was undoubtedly a huge hindrance to Mercedes, especially given the fact that the '21 regs hit their car philosophy particularly hard. I can't imagine how much more RBR would've suffered in '19 with shortened testing, considering they were hit especially hard by the FW changes.

I hope they do, too. Like you said, it's a major regulation change, and F1 seems hellbent on making changes for the sake of the fans/show. Well, instead of shortening practice sessions and cutting testing, give us some more time with the cars on track.

Another minor consolation from the Baku Race is that Mercedes will redesign that brake magic switch so the driver can't hit it by mistake.

Any thoughts on how Lewis drove two full laps, with magic switched on and had to ask Bono if it was on? It would be visible/obvious for Lewis there was something wrong after the first second corner? Almost no brakes on the rear axle.

He must have noticed on the second corner and instinctive adjust bbal on the back straight?

Yerp he actually is supposed to do the warm up laps with it on which he did. He turned it off. Did the start and when he was steering after his launch his arm brushed the button back on.

He used it as he was supposed to in the lead up to the restart. Turned it off. Then accidentally turned it back on. He recognised that he must have done so by the behaviour of the car. And thus he asked the question.

Action. Expected response from car. Action followed by inadvertent action in error. Unexpected response from car. Query.

It's not difficult.

What NL_Fer meant was how did Lewis manage 2 laps behind the Haas cars with the brake magic on. The way Lewis asked after the race sounded like he was asking "was it on?" like he wasn't sure. So if he wasn't sure, he must have driven 2 full racing laps with it on.

He did not know at that time that it was on. He thought he had a brakes fault, so did not even try to pass or gain places.
