Yep, sorry about that, we have yours too.

Just submitted an updated version of the car: I will probably obtain a bit more than 9000N (with balancing issues even if not as much as the pre season race) but facing some risks about cooling.

Mine will be well over 10,000N...

....at 300mph... ;-)

Just making some last minute adjustments to make my car legal...

please can someone quickly explain this to me?

" (K4.1) EITHER  cooling inlet area template, named  “areatemplate”  OR  front faces of heat exchangers as a single part named  “hxfront” , and rear faces as a single part named  “hxrear”  "

You need to include the area template if you're using K4.1 option 1, or the hx parts if you're using K4.1 option 2.

thanks, I've re-read the rules and it made sense this time

I might not make it...! what is the penalty for a late submission?

I don't think we've allowed late submissions before. I would just submit whatever you have at the deadline - there's just under 3 and a half hours left.

its just that my car is such a large file in sketchup. it takes ages sometimes to make simple changes. sketchup has an annoying limitation of only utilising one core... i'm currently waiting on a face intersection process while posting this...

The submission portal closes automatically at the deadline. Since we don't have anything in place for late submissions, you could send me your model via email or PM, but I'd probably just give you the standard penalty, whereas if you submit an illegal car before the deadline you get a chance to make another submission a few days later - in that case penalties are applied only if the second submission is still illegal.

I had a problem with occfd (my fault: I installed BlueCape solver without a clean installation, as HP team suggested), the multicore and something in the report creation did not work. At the same time I was not able use the procedure that Julien explained above, to compute the pressure differential in Paraview (I need to study it in detail but I was in hurry). Finally I used to estimate the cooling pressure with a rough method of my own: it should work... but next time I will have to better plan the development!

Anyway: I am afraid that another 4th place is coming :)

Most of CAD tools use very few multicore features... but SketchUp uses the only core badly. It is not a suitable tool for mechanical/aerospace design.

If you don't like parametric CAD (freeCAD), my advice is to learn Blender (I think Mantium uses it, with excellent results!).
