You could add a section in the database for F1 parts suppliers, as the all cars and all teams. After the Mahle pistons thread, it seems there is plenty of interest. It could be easy to start by going into each team's webpage and checking the official partners and suppliers. Then have the name, a brief history and the products, and link to official webpage. It could be organised by types of products: tyres, pistons, brake system.

There is a digg button at the bottom of each news article that allows you to digg the page. Is that what you are asking?

What might be possible in the short term is to add more supplier info on the car information pages, including a link. Feel free to suggest any changes to a specific car page to speed this up a bit.

I fail to see how an ignore function can help for a forum thread. You will miss posts and from time to time will be unable to comment properly. I am all ears for argumentation though.

You should put a limit to the so far free opening of new threads on any topic.
A poster should have to apply for doing that, then judged by a moderator.

This would give F1Technical a higher overall level of quality.

This is what I think, belive, as well as would consider.

Something much more simple that I find missing sometimes, especially with the long threads of late is an option to jump to a certain page in the thread.

Or maybe there is an option like that and I'm not aware of it?

Click where it says "Page X of Y" by the page numbers at the bottom.

There is a navigator bar with the page numbers, as SpookTheHamster explains (thanks, Spook), at the bottom and at the top of the page.

I like xpensive idea. Perhaps you could avoid moderation of new threads (and thus, a delay in the post of, maybe, several hours) by showing a dialogue after you hit "submit" that says: "There are this threads with titles related to the subject of the one you're starting:... (list of related threads). Are you sure you want to start a new thread or do you prefer to post at the end of one of those listed?"

We try to do it "manually", X. If we think a thread is irrelevant we can always erase it or merge it with an existing one.

Watching the number of spam threads we had lately, I think xpensive proposition is also a way to avoid threads started for spam, but I guess spammers will post at the end of existing ones.

Could be made in different ways I guess, it's just that more often than I can remember, a newbie starts a new thread on "what's KERS?" or "idea for a new diffuser". In his first posting.

Another way would be for the moderators to introduce all new threads, on the suggestions from posters.

What is your opinion if it is to split Aerodynamics, chassis and tyres section into different boards which would contain each year technical analysis and comparisons threads
like
2009 technical analysis and comparisons
2008 technical analysis and comparisons
and so on ....


This would help us a lot to search certain things and developments per season .

I have not read the whole thread - this amy have been mentioned:

When a link is clicked in a thread it opens the page directly.

It would be nice to open a new browser window so that the reader can stay with F1technical and browse the link separately.

I think I mentioned this some time ago.

All you have to do is right click on the link, then choose 'open link in new window', or 'open link in new tab'.
