FRONT WING - BELGIUM

REAR WING - BELGIUM
Image

A low downforce spec rear wing was used in Spa . The shark gill style slits on the endplates were rejected and the front lip of the main plane has been raised in its main plane middle section . The second plane had also an altered configuration .

Image

Finally the endplates had a new more boxy cut on their rear upper part .

NOSE CONE CAMERA WINGLETS - BELGIUM

The nose cone camera winglets were repositioned higher and frontier on the nose cone end . A change possibly made to redirect the airflow towards the sidepods inlets and over the nose .

GEARBOX DETAILS - BELGIUM
Image

Gearbox
Semiautomatic sequential electronically controlled gearbox - quick shift; 7 gears + Reverse

The F60 gearbox is cast in titanium , a novelty first introduced by Minardi team back in 2000 . There is an extra carbon fibre skin covering the titanium casting to increase stiffness .
1.Lower wishbone
2.Upper wishbone
3.Rotating dampers
4.Gearbox mountings on the engine

Why don't they mount the brake calliper on the front moving the weight bias infintismally further forward?

it would potentially interfere with the lower wishbone and brake duct, along with raising the CofG fractionally.

They used to be there, but as czt said, they didnt make suspension geometry rignt and made the COG higher. And the low brake caliper thing was initally used by Red Bull with the RB3, it was something Adrin Newey found that would lower COG by arround 1% during acceleration and drastically more in braking. Also made it easier to ventilate as well, whitch means you can run with smaller thickness discs in theory, meaning up to .5-1kg can be saved in weight on brakes, thats alot of balast that can be played arround with even lower down.

I thought the MP4/18 used bottom-mount calipers in 2003.

GP ITALY - MONZA

Undergone changes from Belgium
1.Front wing
2.Engine elongated slots
3.Asymmetric exhausts outlets
4.Rear brake ducts
5.Rear axle winglets
6.Rear wing

Image

Fisichella replaced Badoer ( because of Badoer’s poor performance )

The wing in Monza resembled a lot to the one used in Spa but it clearly had a much lower attack angle

Exactly. His RB designs are basically a continuation of his ideas for the MP4/18-19 (but we are getting OT)

The T-shaped rear axle winglets weren’t used in Monza .Instead they were replaced by lower placed conventional style winglets .

An elongated rear brake duct was used in Monza with a larger and a more boxy inlet.
