While the turbocharged Honda LMP2 car is seriously down on top speed, the ARX-01e looks on par with Audi R15+- right out of the box!

well the LMP2 isnt actually running in the correct configuration, too large diveplanes, high gurney on the back.
The e on the other hand is looking pretty good and i am really looking forward to see it perform its first race

The ARX-01e was shaken down at Sebring in a Le Mans aero configuration, hence possibly also the high top speeds. Highcroft will be adding more adequate downforce before the race.

So far the 2 test day at Sebring the 01e was the fastest petrol car. Fastest lap is just over .5 sec slower than the 908.
SpeedTV has some pics of the tests so far, the 908 looks very different under the skin vs the old car....the rear damper looks interesting...

Any idea what that is?

It also failed the scrutineering. 5mm wider than allowed. Sandpaper to the rescue.

New Honda turbo V6, looks like its running a log manifold and not equal length headers (shape of things to come for F1 2013?). Turbine right next to the pistons, intercooler close by, short intake piping... Pretty compact for a turbo.
Edit: Large pic:

Check out the reverse swan mounts on the Robertson Ford GT. Haven't seen this before, hopefully this is some small team innovation we're seeing. This is probably even better than the forward mounted swan necks, yeah? Completely eliminates any upstream influence on the wing. Only a portion at the rear of the wing underside would be affected rather than all of it being in the wake. The big benefit would be in yaw, the shadow of the supports being behind the wing. Maybe even aiding evacuation of the low pressure side as the support foils stall? Great idea, anyway.

I'm amazed at how short the exhaust manifolds are on that Honda engine

That Panoz Abruzze might very well be the worst-looking car I've ever come across. Are they making a road version of it, like with the Esperante?
