What I like so much about the championship is to see how the competitivness forces everyone to learn very fast and how that results into faster cars. If anyone is looking for a CFD / Aero engineer they should have a good look at who learns the fastest here. I think last year AratzH was a good example of that. Will he be this years new champ?

It's funny that you say that, because it has actually happened(the aero engineer part, not the champ)!!

Congrats

Do you work as an aero engineer? Did your victories had a role about obtaining the job?
Congrats!!!
The 2017 challenge will be very interesting. TF, JJR and Variante will fight for the final victory, CAEdevice has some new ideas to develop, I hope to make them work. It is great to have professional aero engineers or aerodynamics students as opponents: I am only a mechanical engineer.
I my little own, I completed my first professional job involving CFD: a small antenna where the vortex detachment frequency caused some mechanical resonances. The MVRC experience (and meshing with SnappyHexMesh) helped a lot.

Hi, so I tried making a new account on my tablet with a username with no spaces. This time however, the virtual machine didn't even show up. I open virtualbox to configure the machine and it wasn't there.
So I gave up on my tablet and removed all OF related stuff from my pc since it wasn't working at all. I then reinstalled v1606+ as per the instructions and configured the vm but there is still no username folder in the working directory

But does the VM run? Can you access the shared folder from within the VM?
If you can you don't need an username folder.

Yes I can as far as I know. I will try as soon as I get home today

If it does, you only have to setup the GUI as per the image I posted before and you're good to go.

I hadn't seen your image before I posted mine. If you go into workingdir in the VM and type 'touch test.txt', no quotation marks, can you find said test.txt file in the windows file system?

ok so the vm runs fine, but mvrc helper gives the same error as last time, that the shared folder needs to be renamed c/users (which it already is)

and I tried touching the test.txt, and it says this:
Code: Select all
touch: cannot touch `test.txt': Permission denied

Create a folder with your user name under this 'OpenFoam' cases dir.
Go to 'info->directory info' in the GUI menu and post what's in there.
