Here's my interpretation of the 'inverted v-nose':
This provides lower attachment points for the suspension (essentially forming keels) and the curved upper surface of the nose splits air to each side of the nose, sending it to the sidepods.

The front A-A bulkhead can be as high as 625mm. then the area ahead of it must lower at 550mm, this is worded in the regs. Teams are allowed a a slight "V" section to the front bulkhead (not worded in the regs, but defined by CW).
This info was provided to me by a current F1 Tech director.
Most teams will run a 625mm bulkhead, therefore requiring a step to alter the nose cones top surface from 550mm to 625mm. This seems to be termed a dolphin nose.
Therefore my drawings of the 2012 nose, do not make most of the regs. Will change them and repost tonight.

Could you post details on the v nose directive Scarbs?
FIA were sneaky with us, changings regs on us and keeping quiet about it!

"Section A-A must be at least 225 mm high, 150mm either side of the car centreline
Teams were usign the allowable 25mm radius to reduce the allowable cross section tion of 275mm x 300mm

Okay I'll update my drawings later to fit the new regs or make a CAD model!
Thanks Scarbs!

We are going to see a lot of ugly duck beaks this season. I hope something will be done for next year to make the cars more aesthetically pleasing.

I actually prefer that design to the 2011 noses.

Not dolphin nor duck, scarbs design looks more like this to me:

Would this be legal then?

My Innovo car will feature a Scarbs style nosecone, as a late development prior to launch 1 week today.
Nose doesn't look too radical, but the V is very extreme between 625mm and 550mm.

All we have today are cars that look like they have broken noses.
I've been waiting 20 years for an F1 car to be shaped like this again.

Doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I'm not old enough.
