For me it's pretty simple. I just want a performance car that emphasizes the driver-car connection. This means I want a simple, raw machine. I'm disappointed by the proliferation of fancy gadgetry and 'look ma I am giving the illusion of being a competent driver' technology.

-light weight (the new M6 is over 4000 pounds! I would probably draw the line at 2500.)
-drivetrain layout negotiable
-rear wheel drive only (all-wheel-drive diminishes the purity IMO)
-no ABS
-no traction control
-no stability control
-no launch control
-probably no power steering
-manual transmission
-probably naturally aspirated
-'enough' power, which probably means anything over 300 is fine

Probably why I'm in love with the GT40 replicas. (Though the Ferrari supporting part of my brain is not happy about this.)

The BRZ platform is severely underpowered for the time being but a turbo version might be released within a year or so with almost 300bhp. At the moment it doesn't have enough power by modern standards, so it's probably the only fault it has since everything else is applauded.

Anyways, my dream cars are an E30 M3, E46 M3 (ZCP or CSL), 360 CS, and a 430 Scuderia. Hopefully the E46M will be in my garage within a few years, I just love it!

300SL Gullwing without a doubt. It is my all time favorite car. If I want to have something other than that, an Aston DB5 is the obvious choice 8)

Let's get back to the real world

A Nissan GT-R is my dream car these days. Phenomenal car

Morteza; Was unimpressed myself...to each his own I reckon...
Tifosi you are correct in that the Subaru/Toyota needs more power but what it really needs is better tires.
it's kinda Miata like..good fun but ya won't hurt yourself type thing.
I would like you all to cross your fingers for me...preferably on the 10th of Nov....I really really want to win that Cobra.

The thing is I felt the same :) Let me be honest with myself (my mind and feelings are fighting each other now  ):

Ferrari 360 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution are what my heart is saying. A Porsche Carrera GT is what my mind says.

Is it any better now?

We all do have split personalities when it comes to our dream cars I think. That's why people with real money can't have just one and wind up bying at least three what they think of as dream cars.

My answer to this question has always been... a car I build myself.

I did...
For sunny days cruzin...a Cobra..A continuation or even SuperPerformance would do but it's gotta be a big block.
When I want a roof a modern GT40
When I want comfort the V version of my Caddy
For track days a Lotus or an Atom.
I'm easy and relatively cheap.
Tim...make that a steet rod with the new VooDoo hotrods frame and carbon fibre body...maybe a 32 Ford and I'm with ya
