Hi guys, time for my next report.

Gearbox, Exhaust and Bodywork

After I complete the floor of a car, I construct the gearbox. Here you can see the main piece:
Image
Here it's folded and the mounting holes for the suspension are added:
Image
Here is the completed gearbox, with the carbon texture, the top wishbone rear mounting part and the spike.
Image
Mounted to the floor. Sadly, not in focus.
Image
Here you can see the underside. The place where the rear jack lifts the car is also there. Overall, that area turned out pretty good.
Image
Adding the exhaust was quite straightforward, not much to say about it. You can also see the connection detail from the floor to the gourney flap over the diffuser.
Image
Now the bodywork was a torture to get done. I started with the central element, which took me 3 times to get right.
Image
Image
The side panels are the weakest point of the car. Their shape took about 8 attempts. In the end, its shape wasn't bad. The only problem is the large and visible gap between it and the sidepods. Anyway:
Image
I hoped though that adding the decals and the carbon fibre texture would cover things a bit. That was true, only the gap remained exposed. The reason I'm not that worried though is that Paul had that same problem with his RB7. Also note the vertical fin on top.
Image
And the (almost) finished bodywork. Only a layer of varnish is missing.
Image
Despite the other problems, the undercut is nice.

And the whole car after almost a month of construction:

Next step: Suspension!

Cheers guys :D

Well done, looks great.. Indeed a pity about the gaps.. Isn't it possible to fill it up someway?
Good luck!

You could glue a thin strip along the gap, may be tricky though.

then go over it with another layer of varnish, the joint shouldn't be visible then. Although you would have to re stick the ups logo

Just a quick update- thanks for your advice guys, I decided to try and fill the gap with my logo. So I removed the small one from the end of the sidepods and added a big one to cover the gap. Also note a small piece covering the hole that existed behind the airbox.

Wow just amazing. It really looks brilliant. Just can't believe how you can make a cardboard model look so real. I am very much impressed. I am looking forward to the final product!

Many thanks! You should see Paul's cars though, they are 10000 times better.
PS Suspension report will be published this weekend :)

Hi guys, here is my next report.

Suspension

The suspension is made of rolled cardboard sheets.
Image
They are attached to the car with paperclip pieces. Here are the wishbones:
Image
Here you can see the wishbones in their slots, without being glued yet.
Image
Next, the brakeducts. I have to express my great thanks to you guys on f1technical for supplying wonderful pics of the area. Front, then rear:
Image
Image
Here is the completed front suspension assembly, painted black, only varnish missing. Note the steering rod above the upper arm of the top wishbone. It's the first time I've added this detail.
Image
And this is the rear suspension, almost completed. There is an additional element behind the lower wishbone, I think it's some kind of torsion controller. The driveshaft will be added after priming.
Image
The assembly received a layer of waterbased varnish, then two layers of a high-gloss varnish. That's the finished product. Sadly, the photographs aren't good. Capturing suspension seems to be quite a complex task :? , because there isn't enough light in the area. The driveshaft is also added to the rear suspension. Overall, I'm satisfied, even though it could have been better. At least, the construction is quite stiff, so no worries there.

And the car until now:

Next: Rear and front wing.
Better quality pics will be published when the car is completed.

Cheers! :D
