Ah yes... Williams ran a Mercedes V8 in 1994. They also won the championship with Nelson Piquet that year. No, Carlos Reutemann. No wait, it was a Williams-Repco V8 with Alan Jones.

Williams NEVER drove with Repco engines before

Indeed... some of us are just too stupid to check historical facts before making pointless posts.

I stand corrected.

ranger, what joseff wrote was a satirical reply to another post of yours based on wrong historical data.

ranger wrote:V12 Ferrari 412T1B in 1994?...by that time williams has gone to 3.5 V8..but it was unreliable
1. Williams had gone to 3.5l normaly aspirated engine in 1988 (Judd V8 )

2. In 1994, Williams had Renault V10 and won WCC.

Okay, break it up guys.
handbags away.

Oh and yes, Scuderia_Russ,
I think it was Mechanics Tale, addmitedly it was not my personnal opinion, but I hoped no one would question me.

An idea though. Now that we're all using V8s (STR excluded) pehaps refuelling should be banned. Safety aspect in mind, and also drivers would be forced to overtake rather than use fuel stratergy, (Ferrari would loose a key advantage, so only good can come of it.) also we'd go back to seeing 4 second pit stops.

Just an idea, go ahead and rip it to pieces

Banning refueling would (i.m.o.) make nine out of ten F1 detractors and fans as a whole very happy because the knock on effects would simply = overtaking! I'm all for it.

overtaking? outside of the pits? Is that safe?

I think Getting rid of refueling would be great. also its safer, look at the number of incidents since refueling was brought back. Poor fuel guys is always getting runover, pulled over once he even got bbq. I love the idea of teams all running differant engines.

overtaking in the pit lane????......absolutely not...too dangerous :(

Sawtooth-spike was refering to one driver overtaking another through pit stratergy and timing rather than out on the track.

Of course pit lane overtaking is impossible pecause both drivers will be right on the 50 limit, and to overtake one driver must be faster than another.
