The website was being upgraded but unfortunately the upgrade was designed by Dan Fallows. Inconvenience is regretted.

Please fix this! Testing is tomorrow which is really the most important part of the season for the forum. I suspect whomever is doing this knows that...

Yes, apologies.
Unfortunately I need to blame bots like those from OpenAI and Amazon who were hammering the site.
Both are now contained. I'll cross my fingers.

Did Steve make some enemies we don't know about?
I hope not. If they're trying to annoy me, it's working

Steve a huge hog in all the world is the scrapping that ali servers do. I am in some technological forums where suddenly we were melting and the solution was after seeing the connections, to block this servers.
In specific we blocked this subnets

Well yesterday we had 120K page requests from GPTBot and Amazonbot together.
We got ample network bandwidth but all these pages need parsing and execution and the CPU is at its limit.
I'm looking into upgrade uptions but that's a bit of a long process involving testing etc, so not for tomorrow.

Just block all the crawlers mate except the ones that are crucial.
