I was informed that BP is trying to replace Petrobras at Williams in 2005. It was said that they are trying to move from Jaguar to Williams with Mark Weber who will be used to improove sales in the UK. Does anybody know anything about that?

HAven't heard anything about that.....but...doesn't Webber have a contract with Jaguar that runs untill the end of 2005......???

I still think it's strange Castrol is in F1....in 2001 (I think) when BP bought Catrol...Castrol was supossed to leave Formula 1, because BP has a policy that they don't sponsor motor racing. The story came in F1 Racing....but....probably they changed the policy....cause Castrol is still in F1....

In any case...I would think that a british driver would be better to publicise a british product.....but in any case Webber is a young star that everyone looks at......and he's a very good PR. So....it's logical....Webber to Williams....but probably the helmet design has to change a little lol

BUTTON should be very usefull for the team as well. He is english, very well known by the team and the prefered by HP. Very good for marketing purposes, and can represent the BP brand.

Maybe Petrobras will supply fuel to Toyota in 2004 or 2005 in order to use DaMatta in its marketing campaigns. Have you heard about this???

Another oil company in Formula One: BAPCO from Bahrein, but unfortunately only with money and not with technology, like Petronas

Who is BAPCO going to sponsor?

I don't think Toyota could drop their sponsorship with Esso in favour of Petrobas, besides, Petrobas are tied with Williams.
Altough Babco has no technology, they have money, so they can use their money to hire some oil experts from rival oil company, that could improve the quality of their oil, but i don't think many oil experts would consider moving to Bahrein especially the their neighbour country Iraq is at war.

Well that is also true.....when Ralf joined Williams in 99...he had a personal sponsor....but since Williams was already sponsored by Castrol he had to cancel his personal contract.....and Petrobras is also a Williams Sponsor....since.....99 if I'm not mistaken....a long relationship!

BAPCO will sponsor the Bahrain GP as Petronas do with Malaysian GP and Sauber..... only sponsorship.... not technical involvement (despite the engine is called PETRONAS !!!! sic!)

Regarding the relationship DaMatta - Toyota - PETROBRAS it makes sense once the group Mobil-Exxon is already involved with McLaren in a very long and strong partnership.

Also it was anounced that the agreement PETROBRAS-Williams is only until the end of 2004.

And there are also some gossips that BP (under the Castrol brand) is interessed to move from Jaguar to Williams

X-Racer....about Petronas....since 2000 Sauber has been using the "Syntium" a lubricant developed by Sauber and Petronas. And for 2003 Petronas did develop a fuel for Sauber....I don't have the confirmation if they are infact using the Petronas fuel. but I sent an e-mail to Sauber asking about their fuel and oil....just to confirm....probably your saying this guy is crazy....they use Shell.....just follow the link

So as you see Petronas e more then a sponsor....beside that they're technical partners in the development and construction of the MotoGP Petronas bike.

And.... if Giorgio Piolla and Peter Wright....2 known F1 technical book writers....and if F1 Racing mag (about 4 months ago) and Race Car Engineering (magazine) say that Sauber uses Petronas oil.....I believe them....they're slightly more informed then all of us toghether!

The press release on the Williams web site is talking about the new fuel developed by Petrobras for the 2004 season. It was specially designed to help the BMW to last for 800 km.

Just got the e-mail back from Sauber explaining the fuel and oil situation here is the copy of the e-mail.

Dear Mr. Correia,

The Sauber-Petronas team is using both PETRONAS fuel and engine lubricant.

However, both the PETRONAS fuel and lubricant have to be approved by
Ferrari,
and therefore undergo the same Ferrari approval process as the Shell
products
have to undergo on the Ferrari engine.

So here is the confirmation that Sauber in facct uses Petronas fuel and Oil....

I have seen some Petro Science fuel drums during the spanish tests. Does anybody know which team ais using their fuel?

I was also noticed that Petrobras will supply fuel and lubricants to Jordan in 2004 and are in negotiations to supply fuel free of charge to Minardi after a request from the F1 organisers in an attemt to help Minardi to run the whole year without running out of money. In this case FOM would offer space in some tracks to put their adverts.

Also I have seen Sauber still running with Shell fuel during the tests...

Ferrari remains with Shell, McLaren with Mobil, Toyota-Esso, Renault-Elf, Jaguar-BP/Castrol

No information about Minardi and BAR

Interesting to hear that Petrobas will supplyfuel to Jordan, over these years, I never knew what fuel were they running on. Does anyone knows what fuel is Joedan using in 2003?
