Am I blind or have they removed the lower gills for Malaysia?
And is the endplate a funny shape on the inside too?

Yeah, some sort of groove below the wing, intriguing.

Actually I didn't mean that as I can see that on the Oz wing too...I meant a couple of bumps further down.

Going back to that groove I'm guessing that's a vortex generator?? Am I right?

Has anyone noticed the indentation or curve of the tub just behind the trailing edge of the fron wing and beneath the "mubadala" letters. I don't have a better photo other then this one:

Has anybody got a better photo of front of the tub when the nose cone is taken off? And has any other team done anything similar?

yes the lower part of the nose has kinds 'V' shape to it. Probably makes front wing more efficient. Same idea as the hole in the middle  that was talked so much here.

Hi all!
I have been hanging around for some time now and would like to thank you all for this wonderful source of information. =D>
In your last post bar555 I have seen something not previously discussed. Or I have missed it, sorry if i did. Look at the last picture (http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.ph ... 56&catID=9) provided by bar555. Under the chassis right behind the nosecone and in front of the splitter(?) , the one that divides the airflow around the bargeboards from the one to the radiators, it is "pi shaped", is a keel like structure with a bulb or teardrop below. It looks a little bit like the ones used for America's Cup yachts. See the picture here (http://www.cnn.com/interactive/sailing/ ... m/boat.gif) for reference. You can also see it in these two pictures (http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.ph ... 24&catID=9 and http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.ph ... 56&catID=9) right behind the lower part of the x shaped support structure. Here are two more from different angles: http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.ph ... 15&catID=9 and http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.ph ... 27&catID=9. It can be hard to find depending on your screen setup. I had to zoom in and overbright and overcontrast them for a good view. Any ideas on what this structure does? Obviously to channel the airflow to the desired parts, but if anyone has more information on this how it works and if it is used by other cars please share.
Thank you
Michael

PS: Maybe it is nothing and just an illusion, but I can't link this to any other known (to me) structure.

It's ballast.

ITs not ballast, its an optimess laser speed\slip angle sensor. Most teams run them on friday and in testing to aid set up.

I always thought it was a tungsten ballast. Live and learn.

They're running it during qualifying too though (which would imply race too), so I'd assume there's at least a second function to it.
