The Bose suspension uses MR fluid if I recall. I have done enormous research (and even have made some myself for a project) and that stuff is amazing...

My idea was suspending the MR material in hydraulic fluid, and using an AC coil, bent in the middle, to actually use an oscillating frequency to actually "pump" the fluid. It actually worked, but I lacked the funds to build a prototype latger than the 1/8 in. tubing that I used to see if any motive power could be derived from it.

Someday, I will have enough banked cash to build a few full-sized prototypes, but until then....

Sorry for the correction, but I think they use a full magnetic suspension, something like a computerized, giant relay.

Must have been something similar then. I know that there is a controlled MR system out there as well. I'll check my bookmarks and post if I find it.
