I've heard USA has assembled a strong team & could be a dark horse. I'm cheering for Nigeria, Cameroon & Cote d'Ivoire.

Having the US in the world cup just destroyes the coverage we get of it over here... I hope they bomb out immediately so I can enjoy some great soccer without having to listen to their crap all the time.

what is North Korea doing in there... I didnt think they were allowed to play with the "cool" kids... complete chaos if they somehow play the South koreans.

No Carribean teams(how is that?) so I guess I gotta root for the central/south american teams and the African teams, not that I mind.

I love the world cup, just great soccer.

2006 was my first real WC experience and I've been following football, albeit somewhat loosely, ever since. I was then working at a supermarket and along with the liquor department manager (an awesome Indian bloke) I would sneak up into the employee training section to watch the matches during work. None of the other managers knew about it, but I would relay the results to my co-workers since we were all excited by the action. My managers would often investigate where I had been for so long but they never caught on!

The great part about all of that is that most of them were normal Americans who under normal circumstances couldn't care less about football.

Gosh - nothing like sport to bring out the negatives! Why say "I hate country x" when you can say "I love country y"?

Islam - there were regional qualifying competitions. The Caribbean countries didn't get through their regional rounds, probably because they are so small so have fewer talented players. That's what I like about this competitor, it is truly global and mostly on merit. Unlike franchised sports.

Yeah I know but usually at least 1 carribean team makes it, 2006 was trinidad, and Haiti made it once, its just strange to see a whole region unrepresented.

I guess the carribean is lumped in with either central or south america, makes it tuff to get in.

The fact that we dont like football doesnt change that some football players fit in that definition.

GP at 2pm CET, till around 4pm. Football final at around 8pm. Not an issue. Besides, England will be long gone by that day so English people in general should not worry.

In the absence of Belgium, I'm supporting The Netherlands, and strongly hope that Robben will be in action on this tournament. It would be a pity not to see him there.
