i still think the honda engine is the best in terms of compact, low cog, looks amazing. just needs that extra hp...
It's coming.....need to be patient until about Sochi.
That’s the end of the season

So Honda and RB have decided to finish the season with 4 engines instead of 5.
What do you mean by Sochi Wazari san? Have the plans changed?

Wasn't the plan to use a new engine (spec 3) with a major upgrade soon? Canada or France.
Will that be postponed for a few more races?
Which race is now the intention for spec 3 ?

And then not before Sochi spec 4?
Helmut Marko said last week spec 4 in Monza.
In Sochi you cannot overtake, which is necessary because of the grid penalties.

Remember Max' race last year, where he made a lot of overtakes!

I know, but last year the chassis was much better in the slow corners.
Now they need more HP ---> they can use more downforce ---> the tires are working better ---> better overtaking.

Spec 5? Why not use five or six engines? They will always end up fifth or sixth if they start from the back.
This is still a development year for next year, the more new specs they can successfully test, the better.

New Energy Store and ERS for the Honda PUs and no penalties.

While yes a step forward is possible with 3rd PU, the gains come more from them having unlocked good reliability of their components. This means pumps and heat exchangers can be made smaller or re-arranged, and allows Red Bull to make better use of the space around the power unit for chassis performance. This may not seem like a big upgrade but it is huge, and both sides are working like mad to get this out in time. Packaging revision and a 10KW improvement and parts to go along with what Red Bull has learned about the new regulations. They could potentially take a nice step forward for Silverstone, then once again in Sochi for Honda's final PU debut so that it is ready to race at Suzuka. Will it be enough, who knows, Mercedes seems to have taken another step forward this weekend with their new PU.

ERS as in new MGU-K's and H's? Or are you talking about control electronics?

Very clear now that Renault have party mode, Honda is the worst of engine in terms of one lap performance. Wont be surprised if few rumblings appear on headlines. Next few races are mostly power sensitive so its going to exlose Honda even more unless they come up with something.

Would not be surprised if some Honda folk are unhappy with the strategy calls being made.

Max plus Red Bull Honda would have outqualified Ricciardo and his Renault so now we get to watch Max dispose of the McLarens and Renaults.

Now we see what the new ES, CE and higher engine modes can do.

I call as it is, even though i have been rooting for Honda since they have been back, the truth is out there now. The sector times and speed trap figures are astonishing, after Ferrari the Renault powered cars are featured even above Merc and Ferrari powered cars whilst Honda cars are languishing at the bottom. The fact that all Renault powered cars are within a second of Merc and Ferrari is raising alarm bells. All customer teams have struggled in this formula.
